  • Publication number: 20080091043
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing an organic acid or its derivatives, which comprises oxidation of a hydrocarbon substrate in the presence of a homogeneous MC-type catalyst and an oxidant. In particular, the present invention relates to a process comprising oxidation of a hydrocarbon substrate in the presence of a homogeneous MC-type catalyst selected from Co/Br, Mn/Br, Co/Mn/Br and Co/Mn/M/Br and an O2/CO2 mixed gas oxidant where the partial pressure of O2 is controlled to 30-40%, thereby improving the oxidation rate, the conversion, the selectivity and the yield even under milder conditions. Especially, the present invention remarkably reduces down to a negligible level the production of color impurities and other impurities such as 4-CBA and p-toluic acid, which had been conventionally removed by hydrogenation reduction. Further, the loss in acetic acid solvent due to combustion can also be drastically decreased using the method of the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20060258528
Abstract: The present invention relates to a catalyst for removing aromatic halogenated compounds comprising dioxin, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide simultaneously and a method for preparing the catalyst, more particularly, a catalyst comprising 0.1 to 5% by weight of vanadium, 1 to 12% by weight of metals in 6A family and 0.1 to 10% by weight of Ag in titania carrier or, alternatively, a catalyst produced by impregnating said catalyst in 0.05 to 1M sulfuric acid solution to carry out acid treatment. The catalyst according to the present invention has improved efficiency for removing 1,2-dichlorobenzene as a reactant model of dioxin and carbon monoxide rather than existing catalysts and also, alternative efficiency for removing nitrogen oxide substantially equal to commonly known catalysts, so that the catalyst can effectively control various air pollutants contained in exhaust gas.

  • Publication number: 20040265200
Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for treating exhaust gas. The apparatus includes a pipe (2) for providing a flow path of the exhaust gas containing nitrogen dioxide from a stationary source combustion process using gases as a fuel. One or more nozzles (4) are installed in the pipe (2), which can spray air and a reducing or an oxidizing agent to the exhaust gas flowing in the pipe (2). Additionally, a storage tank (6) is installed to store the reducing or oxidizing agent therein. Furthermore, an injection pump (8) is connected to the storage tank (6) and nozzle (4) at a position between the storage tank (6) and nozzle (4) to feed the reducing or oxidizing agent from the storage tank (6) to the nozzle (4), and an air pump (10) is connected to the nozzle (4) to feed the air into the pipe (2).

  • Patent number: 6284211
Abstract: Nitrogen oxides are removed from an exhaust gas containing nitrogen oxides and oxygen in a proportion larger than its stoichiometric proportion relative to unburned components in the exhaust gas, by (i) disposing an exhaust gas cleaner in a flow path, the exhaust gas cleaner comprising a first catalyst composed of 0.2-20 parts by weight (on a metal basis) of silver or silver oxide supported on a porous inorganic oxide, and a second catalyst composed of 1-50 parts by weight (on an oxide basis) of tungsten and/or vanadium supported on a porous inorganic oxide; (ii) introducing oxygen-containing organic compounds having 2 or more carbon atoms or a fuel containing the oxygen-containing organic compounds into the exhaust gas on the upstream side of the exhaust gas cleaner; and (iii) bringing the exhaust gas into contact with the exhaust gas cleaner at a temperature of 150-650° C., thereby causing a reaction of the nitrogen oxides with the oxygen-containing organic compounds to remove the nitrogen oxides.
