Abstract: A printing group of a printing machine is comprised of a pair of cylinders each having a circumference that corresponds essentially to a length of a section of a side to be printed. The effective generated surface of at least one of the cylinders comprises, at the most, one break in the circumferential direction. The surface forms, in the longitudinal direction, a plurality of adjacently arranged breaks which, when viewed in the circumferential direction, are arranged in a staggered manner with respect to each other.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for cooling material to be printed and printing machine elements at sheet-fed rotary printing machines by means of cooled compressed air. It is an object of the present invention to provide an apparatus which requires little space, is able to cool effectively the material to be printed as well as the machine elements, which are undesirably heated by the dryers. Pursuant to the present invention, this objective is accomplished by providing an apparatus wherein cooled, compressed air is supplied over one or more sheet-guiding devices for guiding the sheets pneumatically along the sheet-guiding path, and a cooling device is disposed in the cross section of flow of the compressed air or the sheet-guiding device.
Abstract: Flexible plates are placed on a plate cylinder by inserting leading and trailing plate suspension legs into cooperating slits. Each of the plate suspension legs is pushed into the receiving slit by an insertion device that uses plate front and rear insertion sliders. These two insertion sliders each act as a guide for the adjacent slider.
Abstract: Folders in a web-fed rotary printing press are associated with two spaced horizontal planes. Each of these planes is provided with a superstructure carriage that supports a plurality of turning bars. Each of the superstructure carriages can be displaced horizontally with respect to the other carriage and with respect to the folders.
Abstract: The fan-out effect of a paper web, passing through a web-fed printing press having a plurality of printing units, is corrected by providing control assemblies before selected ones of the printing units. The control assemblies each have a number of control elements and counter control elements. The number of control and counter control elements in each assembly varies with the moisture content of the paper web passing through the web-fed printing press.

Abstract: A method for ascertaining possible register errors and for correcting the positioning of printing plate cylinders in a multi-color rotary printing machine utilizes geometric and regular figures of different sizes as register marks images. These figures, such as circles or squares are printed into each other and the resulting register marks' prints may be analyzed to provide infotmaion useable to correct register errors in both the X and Y distances.

Abstract: In a device and a method for the regulation of the controlled infeed of web material to a printing machine, a control component of a differential gear placed ahead of a web drive roller is driven by a second continuously adjustable drive by the main drive of the printing machine. Control of the second drive takes place via a servomotor which is connected by a control circuit with a tensioning roller deflectable by the paper web. During control the voltage signal generated by the deflection of the tensioning roller is converted parallel into a voltage signal characterizing the position of the tensioning roller and into a voltage signal weighting the direction of movement. Then these signals are linked into a single output signal and are routed to the servomotor.
