  • Patent number: 5497058
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to offer a headlamp cleaning device which is always capable of attaining a constant cleaning capacity by keeping the ejected quantity of the cleaning fluid constant for a single cleaning operation without any regard to the fluctuations in the voltage of the electric power in the power source. The headlamp cleaning device according to the present invention is provided with an electric power source voltage monitoring means which monitors the power source voltage as applied to a cleaning device motor. This device furnishes the power source voltage to the electric power supply time setting means. When a cleaning device switch 9 is turned ON, the electric power supply time setting means 10-2 sets the driving time T to a longer time period when the value of the electric power source voltage is low, but sets the driving time T to a shorter period when the value of the electric power source voltage is high.

  • Patent number: 5488547
Abstract: A headlamp for a motor vehicle with a linear bubble tube type level vial 60 for detecting a vertical inclination of a vial 60 in which the reflector 14 is supported so as to be tiltable with respect to a lamp body 10 within a lamp chamber S defined by the lamp body 10 and a front lens 12, and the vial 60 contains a linear bubble tube 64 substantially horizontally and longitudinally disposed, characterized in that the level vial 60 is extended rearward from the rear wall of the reflector 14, whereby the level vial 60 is located apart from a heat source (bulb 16), thereby impeding the transfer of the heat to the linear bubble tube 64 of the level vial 60. A rear expanded portion 11 enclosing the level vial 60 is additionally formed to the lamp body 10, without increasing the size of the whole lamp body 10 in connection with the level vial 60. With this unique structure, the increase of the size of the lamp body 10 is not so much.

  • Patent number: 5486740
Abstract: A lighting circuit reduces the chance of shifting the generation timing for a start pulse with respect to the polarity of a rectangular wave. The lighting circuit has a start pulse generator which is designed to generate a start pulse only when the rectangular wave voltage obtained by a DC-AC converter has a certain polarity. A lighting discriminating circuit discriminates the ON status or OFF status of a discharge lamp. A lighting frequency controller is provided to alter the lighting frequency so that the frequency of the rectangular wave output from the DC-AC converter when the OFF status of the discharge lamp is discriminated becomes lower than the frequency of the rectangular wave output from the DC-AC converter when the ON status of the discharge lamp is discriminated.

  • Patent number: 5485059
Abstract: Disclosed is a lighting circuit for a vehicular discharge lamp, which can accurately and promptly detect an abnormal status to thereby improve the reliability and safety usage. When a lighting switch in the lighting circuit is set on, a batter/voltage is boosted by a DC booster circuit and then converted into an AC voltage by a DC/AC converter before being supplied to a metal halide lamp. When power supply continues with the lamp in an open-circuit state or a short-circuited state, a fire may be set or an electric-shock originated accident may occur. An abnormality detector for detecting an abnormal status is provided to cope with such a problem. The abnormality detector detects the output voltage of the DC/AC converter, very close to the lamp voltage, determines that the lamp in the open-circuit state when the detected level is equal to or above a predetermined value and determines that the lamp in the short-circuited state when the detected level is equal to or below a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 5479323
Abstract: A vehicular cornering lamp system which can be adapted to all types and models of vehicles without having to change the correspondence of the illuminating angle with specific characteristics of the vehicle. The angular velocity of the vehicle is detected when the vehicle is traveling on a curve by an angular velocity sensor. Pulses from a distance sensor are counted to detect the vehicle's velocity. Angular velocity data and vehicle velocity data are latched by respective latch circuits. The reciprocal of the turning radius is calculated directly by dividing the angular velocity data by the vehicle velocity data in a divider. There is carried out an arithmetic operation of calculating the reciprocal of the turning radius after calculating the turning radius by dividing the vehicle velocity data by the angular velocity data. The illuminating angle can be approximated as a simple inverse function with respect to the turning radius.

  • Patent number: 5469339
Abstract: A reflector consists of a reflecting portion and a wall portion surrounding it and is rectangular when viewed from the front side. A reference curve is formed on a horizontal plane including the optical axis by connecting outer portions of a parabola having a focus F1 located on the optical axis and a focal length f1, and portions of two parabolas having foci F2 and F2' located on their axes parallel with the optical axis and a focal length f2 (>f1). A reflecting surface is formed as a collection of cross-sectional curves each obtained by cutting an imaginary paraboloid of revolution set for each point on the reference curve and having an axis extending along a ray reflected at that point after being emitted from the focus F1 by a vertical plane including the axis of the paraboloid of revolution.

  • Patent number: 5459379
Abstract: A method for operating power window apparatus with a safety device which stops the closing operation of the window in response to the detection of an object-caught state, which prevents the incomplete close of the window, and can accurately detect the object-caught state. The opening/closing position of the window is detected by counting pulses generated as the window moves. A region where a safety control can be carried out is determined on the basis of the detected opening/closing position. When the window reaches a position near a position where the window is fully closed, the count indicative of the opening/closing position detector is reset. The resetting operation is carried out so that a time point where the relative speed of the window is reduced is set at the fully closed position of the window.
