Abstract: There is provided a weather resistant power outlet (GPO) of the type including a double socket assembly having rocker switches and female prong contacts and supported on the back of a mounting plate having respective insulative prong apertures. A space exists between the mounting plate at the prong apertures and the female prong contacts, providing a safety gap between the apertures and the contacts. An elastomeric body is located in the space and compressed against the mounting plate by the socket assembly. The elastomeric body has prong-passing slits allowing passage of prongs of an electrical male plug passing through the prong apertures to electrically engage the female prong contacts, the openings being self-sealing on withdrawal of the prongs under the resilient bias of the elastomeric body. The GPO is rendered weatherproof without increasing the mounting plate to female contacts distance.
Abstract: A General Power Outlet (GPO) is provided having a hinged cover and integrally formed side walls forming a moisture drip line. Waterproof and electrically insulated seals protect rocker switches. Located behind pin apertures is a waterproof and electrically insulated elastomeric body having self-closing pin slots. Without inserting a plug, the elastomeric body still seals the apertures completely like a gasket. The pivot structure of the lid bevels and rounds the top of the back of the lid. This allows the top of lid to be level with the wall and the base of the body when it is fully opened at horizontal position. A wall gasket serves as a weatherproof sealer between the GPO and the wall when the invention is installed.
Abstract: A slimstyle mounting panel (20) for electric switching gear (10) adapted to be mounted on a standard size mounting block (50) or bracket (60), said panel (20) comprising a non-metallic moulded planar plate portion (46) having (a) on a rearward surface (44), means (24) devised for securing switching gear onto the plate (46); (b) an opening extending from the rearward surface (44) to the front surface (42) of the plate (46), devised for locating an operating element of the switching gear (10); and (c) at least two through holes (38,40) extending through the plate (46) and arranged for receiving screws or other fixing elements by way of which the panel (20) may be secured to a mounting block (50) or bracket (60) disposed at a wall; wherein the axial length of the through holes is one to three times the thickness of the plate portion (46).
