  • Patent number: 4398382
Abstract: A method and apparatus for washing the solid annular pieces used in immune methods, i.e. the so-called EIA-rings, and for coating such rings with a reagent, as well as for the dispensing of the rings. The EIA-rings are fitted, one after the other, into a tubular container part, which is open at both ends. To the bottom end of the container part an intake tip is attached, and to the other end a device for drawing and exhausting a liquid through the intake tip into the container part. The container part enclosing the EIA-rings is then sealed at both ends until the upper end of the container part is opened for dispensing the rings. The opened end is connected to a dosage device, the intake tip of the container part is removed and the EIA-rings are dispensed by means of the device.

  • Patent number: 4335621
Abstract: A pipette comprising a handle portion, whose upper end is provided with a press knob with shaft and inside which a piston rod is fitted. To the bottom end of the piston rod is connected a piston or, by the intermediate of a common actuating means of the pistons, several pistons and, for each piston, a cylinder part, which is fastened to the frame construction of the handle portion. The piston rod and the press knob shaft, which are parallel to each other, are placed at a distance from each other, and their surfaces facing each other are shaped as jointly operative with a cogwheel or friction wheel fitted between them and journalled on the handle portion by means of a shaft. Then, when the press knob is depressed, by the intermediate of the press knob shaft, of the cogwheel or friction wheel, and of the piston rod, the piston or the pistons in each cylinder portion can be shifted from the lower position into the upper position so as to suck liquid into the tip vessel connected to each cylinder portion.

  • Patent number: 4319841
Abstract: There is disclosed a micro-cuvette unit comprising a plurality of components in the form of a matrix which is arranged so that the cuvettes may be handled as one unit. The structural body of the micro-cuvette unit comprises a rectangular frame which is designed so that a plurality of cuvette components may be fitted to the frame, one after another. Each cuvette component comprises a plurality of cuvettes arranged in the form of a line or matrix and connected to each other directly or by means of support discs. The frame part of the micro-cuvette unit is open in the middle, at least within the area covered by the cuvettes in the cuvette components. The frame part contains two opposite sides which are provided with connecting means for joining the cuvette components to the frame part.

  • Patent number: 4304138
Abstract: A multi-dose pipette which comprises a body constituting the handle portion, a cylinder portion or piston chamber with a tip tube, fitted at the bottom end of the said body, a main piston fitted into the cylinder portion or piston chamber. The main piston can be pressed down by means of a press knob and a piston rod against the spring force of a spring and is by a spring returned to the upper position. In addition to the main piston, the pipette also comprises a dose piston with its piston chamber. The maximum stroke volume of the main piston is essentially larger than the stroke volume of the dose piston. The piston chamber of the main piston and the dose piston are connected to each other by means of a channel. The end of the piston chamber of the dose piston facing towards the piston rod is provided with a valve which is fitted so that it opens itself and admits air through the valve into the piston chamber at the upper position of the dose piston.

  • Patent number: 4290997
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for automatic measurement of the results of agglutination tests, e.g., in a spectrophotometer, adsorption photometer, fluorometer, or nephelometer. Samples of agglutination tests are incubated in reaction vessels, such as cuvettes or set of cuvettes, so as to inactivate the samples before measurement. During incubation of the samples, the reaction vessels are placed, either by sufficient inclination of the reaction vessels or by using reaction vessels specifically designed for the purpose, in which reaction vessels the bottom construction of the reaction vessel has a recess that is positioned lower than the point of passage of the measurement beam, i.e. the measurement window, in the bottom part of the reaction vessel, into such a position that, when no agglutination has taken place, the non-agglutinated particles are assembled or heaped in the reaction vessels into their parts or recesses placed at the lowest level, outside the route of passage of the beam of measurement.

  • Patent number: 4259290
Abstract: The subject of the present invention is a transfer device for analysis equipment, which transfer device comprises a track consisting of, inter alia, guide and support rails on which to transfer a pit plate on a transport cassette along the track. The transport cassette includes a traction rail parallel to the guide and support rails. Traction units are fitted onto the track in the transfer device as means operative jointly with said traction rail to move the transport cassette. In order to control the operation of the traction units, the traction rail is provided with sign codes readable by means of an optical reading device. This indicates the position of the cassette relative to the optical reading device so that the transport cassette may be stopped to position the desired line of pits, transverse to the track for operations to be performed in the analysis equipment, such as liquid dosage, photometric measurement operations, etc.

  • Patent number: 4237095
Abstract: A disposable pipette tip vessel intended for use in connection with a dosage pipette. The lowest point of the tip vessel has a hole for suction of the liquid to be pipetted into the tip vessel and, correspondingly, for emptying of the tip vessel of the liquid contained therein. In the bottom part of the tip vessel around the filling and emptying hole, a plane or gently conical bottom portion has been shaped so that the tip vessel is arranged so that, between subsequent dosage steps to be performed by means of the pipette, the tip vessel allows the air column to be sucked into the bottom part of the tip vessel to rise as an air bubble or as bubbles of air above the liquid in the tip vessel, whereby the liquid column is correspondingly lowered to the bottom of the tip vessel.

  • Patent number: 4151750
Abstract: A device is disclosed for removing a disposable tip from a pipette. The device includes an elongated shaft with a flattened push-button at one end and an elongated groove. Elongated projections extend inwardly from each side of the groove.A guide member extends outwardly from the pipette. The guide member includes opposed longitudinal notches configured to mate with the projections along the sides of the groove in the shaft and includes an end portion configured to slide within the groove in the shaft.A sleeve is attached to the second end of the shaft. The sleeve is configured to slide over the exterior surface of the pipette. A spring is disposed within the shaft groove and biases the shaft and attached sleeve into a first position where the end of the pipette is exposed so that a disposable tip can be attached to it. When the push-button is depressed, the shaft and sleeve move downwardly along the pipette to push off the disposable tip.
