Abstract: A method for producing a decorative element and uses of a decorative element. A polarizing layer functioning as an analyzer is applied to a transparent optical carrier material and a transparent optical functional layer is applied as an image-forming layer including an optically anisotropic material. By spatially structuring the functional layer, a targeted location-dependent dependency of material properties of the optically anisotropic material is created for producing the image-forming layer. One or several decorative elements produced can each be introduced into a light field of a lighting device in a desired shape, size and quantity and having settable image motifs (image structures) and being disposed at different spatial distances and being freely disposable. The decorative element produced is intended to be used as an architectural element for creating light-optical effects in the exterior area of buildings, as a design element for interior design or for object design.

Abstract: A system (02) is provided with a projection device (01) comprising a light source (03) and an information imprinting device (08) and at least one projection surface (05, 07). The at least one projection surface (05) may have a sectionally phase-maintaining surface. At least one filtering device (11) is arranged between the projection surface (05) and an observation point (15) or a filtering device (09) is arranged independently of the at least one projection surface between an output of the information imprinting device (08) of the projection device (01) and the projection surface (05, 07), wherein the phase modulation is converted into an amplitude modulation by means of the filtering device. Usage of such a system for multistage elective display of information on at least one projection surface (07, 09) is also proposed.

Abstract: A system and method for modulating and displaying optical effects includes a lighting device (BV) and at least one displaying object (DO) located outside the lighting device. The lighting device (BV) includes at least one input polarization unit (POE) for influencing polarization, in particular in a location-dependent manner, and at least one modulation unit (OME) for influencing polarization and/or retardance, in particular in a time-dependent and/or location-dependent manner. The displaying object (DO) includes at least one object retarder unit (POB) for influencing retardance, in particular in a location-dependent and/or time-dependent manner, the at least one object retarder unit being suitable for reversibly or irreversibly impressing a piece of image information, and an output polarization unit (PE).
