An echocardiogram reporting workstation (10) comprises a display component (12) and at least one user input component (14, 16, 18), and performs an echocardiogram examination reporting method including: interfacing with a user to enable the user to enter a current report (30) on a current echocardiogram examination of a cardiac subject; detecting a current finding value for a standard echocardiogram finding in the current report; and detecting a prior finding value for the echocardiogram finding in a prior report (36) on a prior echocardiogram examination of the cardiac subject.

    Abstract: A method and device are provided for determining an optimized scale factor to be applied to an excitation signal or a filter during a process for frequency band extension of an audio frequency signal. The band extension process includes decoding or extracting, in a first frequency band, an excitation signal and parameters of the first frequency band including coefficients of a linear prediction filter, generating an excitation signal extending over at least one second frequency band, filtering using a linear prediction filter for the second frequency band. The determination method includes determining an additional linear prediction filter, of a lower order than that of the linear prediction filter of the first frequency band, the coefficients of the additional filter being obtained from the parameters decoded or extracted from the first frequency band and calculating the optimized scale factor as a function of at least the coefficients of the additional filter.

    Abstract: An AC line voltage may be encoded with control information, such as dimming information derived from an output signal of a conventional dimmer, so as to provide an encoded AC power signal. One or more lighting units, including LED-based lighting units, may be both provided with operating power and controlled (e.g., dimmed) based on the encoded power signal. In one implementation, information may be encoded on the AC line voltage by inverting some half cycles of the AC line voltage to generate an encoded AC power signal, with the ratio of positive half-cycles to negative half-cycles representing the encoded information. In other aspects, the encoded information may relate to one or more parameters of the light generated by the LED-based lighting unit(s) (e.g., intensity, color, color temperature, etc.).
