Abstract: Methods of providing a semiconductor device with a control electrode structure having a controlled overlap between control electrode and first and second main electrode extensions without many spacers are disclosed. A preferred method provides a step of etching back an insulating layer performed after amorphizing and implanting the main electrode extensions. Preferably, the step that amorphizes the extensions also partly amorphizes the insulating layer. Because etch rates of amorphous insulator and crystalline insulator differ, the amorphized portion of the insulating layer may serve as a natural etch stop to enable even better fine-tuning of the overlap. Corresponding semiconductor devices are also provided.

Abstract: A method for reacquiring a target in an automated video tracking system is provided. The method includes the steps of: selecting a desired target to be tracked; switching the automated video tracking system to an automatic mode to initiate a tracking sequence to automatically track the selected desired target; switching the automated video tracking system from an automatic mode to a manual mode if the automated video tracking system encounters a period of difficulty in tracking the desired target; reacquiring the desired target in manual mode; and switching the automated video tracking system to the automatic mode for automatic tracking of the reacquired desired target without initiating a new tracking sequence. An apparatus and automated video tracking system for carrying out the methods of the present invention are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6309835
Abstract: Methods are included for quantitating the efficacy of oral care products at dislodging cells from biofilm test surfaces or inhibit or delay the accumulation of cells on a test surface. More specifically, the inventive methods measure the effectiveness of compositions and appliances in a test environment that models biofilm surface orientations that are encountered on a tooth surface, i.e. interproximal and subgingival tooth surfaces. The use of test surfaces that are removably attachable to a tooth prosthesis allow a variety of different quantitative methods to be applied to determine the amount of cells removed or deposited in a biofilm.
