Abstract: A communication system transfers a signal over a single signal wire (SW) between a first system (S1) and a second system (S2). The first system (S1) comprises: a first controller (C1) to supply an output signal (MO) and a switch signal (MS), and to receive an adapted input signal (MIA). The output signal (MO), the switch signal (MS), the adapted input signal (MIA), and the first controller (C1) are referenced to a first ground potential (G1). A first galvanic separating unit (U 1) receives the output signal (MO), the first ground potential (G1), and a second ground potential (G2) to supply to the single signal wire (SW) an adapted output signal (MOA) referenced to the second ground potential (G2). A second galvanic separating unit (U2) receives the first ground potential (G1), the second ground potential (G2) and at an input terminal (IT) an input signal (MI) referenced to the second ground potential (G2) to supply the adapted input signal (MIA) referenced to the first ground potential (G1).

Abstract: A LED system (100) for illumination and data transmission employs a LED driver (110), an electronic switch (130), and an illumination unit (150). In a first illumination state, illumination unit (150) receives LED current(s) from LED driver (110) to emit a first light output. In a second illumination state, the illumination unit (150) receives additional LED current(s) from LED driver 110 via the electronic switch as controlled by the LED driver where the illumination unit (150) additionally emits a second light output. Abstract: A detecting apparatus (2) for determining the presence and/or concentration of a predetermined biomolecule on a biosensor (4) is disclosed. The biosensor (4) emits radio frequency radiation in response to irradiation of a photodiode (8) by laser light, and has a resonant circuit having a resonant frequency dependent upon the presence and/or concentration of the relevant biomolecule on the sensor (4). The apparatus (2) comprises a laser diode (12) irradiating the sensor (4), and a receiver (20, 22) for receiving RF radiation emitted by the sensor (4) and providing an output signal representing the frequency deviation in RP radiation emitted by the sensor (4) caused by the presence and/or changes in concentration of the biomolecule. Integrators (26, 38), multiplier (32) and adder (28) reduce the dependency of the frequency deviation signal on the output intensity of the laser diode (12).

Using a damascene metal level in combination with thermal degradable polymer (TDP) enables the manufacturing of compact system of microtubes only separated by a monolayer of metallic barrier material. Due to the small distance (i.e. the thickness of the barrier) between two separate microtubes a highly efficient heat transfer between two fluids circulating in the microtubes is enabled.

  • Publication number: 20090121213
Abstract: The present invention relates to a semiconductor device in which energy band gap can be electrically varied. An idea of the present invention is to provide a device, which is based on nanowires (306) embedded in a material (307) that exhibits a deformation when properly addressed, e.g. a piezoelectric material such as lead zirconate titanate (PZT), aluminum nitride (AIN) or zinc oxide (ZnO). The nanowires (306) can be reversibly strained by applying a local deformation to the piezoelectric material (307) by means of applying a voltage to the material. The resulting band gap variation can be utilized to tune the color of the light emitted from e.g. a LED or a laser. This is a consequence of the fact that the band gap is proportional to the frequency of the emitted light. In other fields of application, contact resistance in semiconductor junctions can be controlled, and this feature is highly advantageous in memories and switches.

Abstract: A vented loudspeaker box system comprises a vented loudspeaker box, a music content analyzing device and a bass controlling device. The vented loudspeaker box is used for playing a music signal, the music content analyzing device is used for detecting the bass contents of the music signal, and the bass controlling device is used for adjusting the bass boost frequency of the vented loudspeaker box according to the detected result. The bass boost frequency is adjusted by adjusting the length of the bass port. With the invention, the bass components at the special dominant bass frequency can be enhanced appropriately during playing the music signal through the vented loudspeaker box, and the length of bass port is matched with the dominant bass frequency of the bass components adaptively and continuously, thereby improving the bass performance of the vented loudspeaker box system remarkably.

In order to ensure uninterrupted viewing of the presentation for the user, the application program must secure application data from the optical disk (113) at the same time as audio/video data is being retrieved.
