Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of controlling a dimmable luminaire co-arranged with a light sensor at a first level of a room and illuminating a second level of the room, comprising: determining an output path parameter representing a relation between the amount of light emitted from the luminaire and a luminaire illumination value at the second level, which results from the emitted amount of light; and repeatedly: determining an external illumination value at the second level, which external illumination value represents illumination by other sources than the luminaire, by means of values of the presently emitted amount of light, the output path parameter, and light information originating from the light sensor; and controlling the dimming level of the luminaire on basis of the external illumination value in order to meet a predetermined illumination condition for the total illumination at the second level.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for moving a target element which comprises a magnetic material and an active agent, through an object, placing the target element at a predetermined position within the object and activating the active agent.
Abstract: The present invention relates to determining changes in the X-ray emission yield of an X-ray tube, in particular determining dose degradation. In order to provide determination of such changes, an X-ray source is provided comprising a cathode, an anode; and at least one X-ray sensor (16). The cathode emits electrons towards the anode and the anode comprises a target area on which the electrons impinge, generating X-ray radiation. An X-ray barrier (24) is provided with an aperture (26) for forming an emitting X-ray beam from the X-ray radiation, wherein the emitting X-ray beam has a beam formation (30) with a central axis. The at least one X-ray sensor is arranged within the beam formation and measures the X-ray intensity for a specific direction of X-ray emission with an angle with respect to the central axis. The at least one X-ray sensor can be positioned inside the beam formation (30), but outside the “actual field of view” (40) as determined by a diaphragm (36).

Abstract: A light source sequentially emits lights generated by at least three light emitting elements each emitting a different primary color to generate an image. Each light emitting element has a duty cycle in a lighting period, which may be an image frame period. A sequence scheme is provided for alternatingly driving different ones of the light emitting elements. The light emitting elements are driven in accordance with the sequence scheme at least two times in the lighting period, while maintaining the duty cycle for each light emitting element. In the sequence scheme, at least one light emitting element having the highest temperature sensitivity of all light emitting elements is driven more times than another one.

Abstract: A brewing unit includes a seat capable of a rotation movement, in which a piston is slidably received. A counter-piston co-operates with the seat and the piston to define a brewing chamber. Moreover, cam members are provided to control movements of the seat, the piston, and the counter-piston. The seat, the piston and the counter-piston can assume with respect to one another at least one position of charging of a product for preparation of the beverage, at least two distinct brewing positions which correspond two different volumes of the brewing chamber, and a position for discharging the spent product.

Abstract: There is provided a lighting system 100 comprising at least one lighting device 110, 120, 130 and a control unit 140 arranged for providing power P1,2,3 to each lighting device according to a control logic which is based on startup characteristics C1,2,3 of each lighting device. Thereby a lighting system is provided in which the individual characteristics of the lighting devices are taken into account when controlling the lighting devices. Since the control logic is based on startup characteristics for the lighting devices in the system, as an example, a reduction of the total standby power in the lighting system is achievable.

Abstract: An interface system for use in providing a flow of pressurized gas to a patient. The interface system comprises a mask (18) structured to engage a nasal and/or oral orifice of a patient, a conduit (16) coupled to the mask, and a valve mechanism (20) operatively coupled to the mask or the conduit. The conduit is structured to communicate the flow of pressurized gas to the mask. The valve mechanism is structured to selectively impede the flow of pressurized gas to the patient and is actuated by the patient, thus allowing the patient to speak without interference from the flow of pressurized gas.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus, method and computer program product for controlling reception in an asynchronous operation mode, wherein a transmitter sends an extended preamble sequence of length longer than the maximum length of a wake up message itself plus the maximum length of a gap between wake up messages, such that a receiver turning on during a sequence of wake up commands and not detecting the wake up commands, can be sure to successfully detect a preamble if it tries again a second time a set interval later.

Abstract: The present application relates to a steam generator iron. The steam generator iron has a steam passageway along which steam flows, the steam passageway having a first section (13) and a second section (16) extending from the first section (13). A flow stabilizing element (24, 35, 38) is disposed at the transition of the steam passageway from the first section (13) to the second section (16). Therefore, the generation of noise at the transition and the flow resistance in the steam passageway is minimized as steam flows along the steam passageway. The present application also relates to an insert for a steam generator iron.
Abstract: The invention relates to a powered device (2) like a luminaire for being used in a power distribution system (100), which is preferentially a PoE system and which comprises a power sourcing device (1) for sourcing a power to the powered device. The powered device comprises an electrical load like an LED and an electrical load power providing unit for generating from the sourced power an electrical load power and for providing the electrical load power to the electrical load, wherein the electrical load power providing unit is adapted to generate the electrical load power with a power level such that an input current drawn by the powered device from the power sourcing device is maximized below a predefined upper input current threshold. This allows increasing the power consumption of the powered device in comparison to the power consumption of powered devices in accordance with the PoE standard IEEE 802.3at.

Abstract: A method according to embodiments of the invention includes growing on a first surface of a sapphire substrate a semiconductor structure including a light emitting layer disposed between an n-type region and a p-type region. The semiconductor structure is formed into a plurality of LEDs. Cracks are formed in the sapphire substrate. The cracks extend from the first surface of the sapphire substrate and do not penetrate an entire thickness of the sapphire substrate. After forming cracks in the sapphire substrate, the sapphire substrate is thinned from a second surface of the sapphire substrate. The second surface is opposite the first surface.

Abstract: An ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system acquires 3D data sets of the fetal heart by use of a gating signal synthesized from detected motion of the fetal heart. A sequence of temporally different echo signals are acquired from a location in the anatomy where motion representative of the heart cycle is to be estimated, such as a sample volume in the fetal carotid artery or an M line through the fetal myocardium. A heart cycle signal is synthesized from the detected motion and used to gate the acquisition of fetal heart image data at one or more desired phases of the fetal heart cycle. In an illustrated embodiment 3D data sets are acquired from multiple subvolumes, each over the full fetal heart cycle, then combined to produce a live 3D loop of the beating fetal heart.
