  • Patent number: 4683976
Abstract: A chassis frame particularly suitable for fire service vehicles comprises a pair of main bearers extending longitudinally and spaced transversely of the vehicles, each including at least one angled portion suitably disposed between the front and rear axles and enclosing an obtuse angle of less than 180.degree. towards the wheels. Engine mounting means are situated rearwardly of the front axle and an engine output shaft is positioned above the axle and between the axles and upper portions of the wheels. This facilitates adaptation to different service vehicle requirements, the installation of drive transmissions and service equipment such as fire fighting equipment whilst allowing for ease of access and flexibility in use.

  • Patent number: 4678041
Abstract: A fire truck comprises an uninterrupted chassis frame carrying a driver's cab and supported on four driving axles arranged in 8.times.8 configuration and driven independently. The driving axles support the chassis frame via pressure fluid springs at opposite sides of the vehicle, the forward and rearward pairs of axles and associated springs defining forward and rearward undercarriages and the chassis carrying quenching agent tanks, a quenching agent pump, and a driving engine. The fluid pressure springs at one side of the vehicle are connected via a pressure fluid supply system and a load compensator system to the springs at the opposite side. An automatic transmission is positioned between the forward and rearward undercarriages and the driving axles are individually coupled thereto. The automatic transmission is coupled to the driving engine which is situated in the chassis frame above the rear undercarriage.

  • Patent number: 4645009
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for producing and dispensing extinguishing fluids mixed with adjuvants. The adjuvants are drawn in by suction in a metered manner and fed to a suction or intake pipe of an extinguishing fluid pump. A partial volume of the extinguishing fluid proportional to the quantity of extinguishing fluid conveyed in the delivery pipe is withdrawn from the delivery pipe. A negative pressure is generated thereby, by means of which the adjuvant is drawn in by suction and mixed with the extinguishing fluid. The extinguishing fluid mixed with additive is then fed to the suction or intake pipe of the extinguishing fluid pump.
