Abstract: Disclosed are novel peptides inhibitory of the activity of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and their use in the treatment of angiogenesis-related diseases, including cancer. A combinatorial library of peptides consisting of six amino acid residues were chemically synthesize and, from the library, specific amino acid residues for each amino acid position were screened by comparing their inhibitory activity against VEGF binding to the cell surface receptor. The novel peptide sequences thus obtained bind to VEGF and block the binding of VEGF to its receptors present on the surface of vascular endothelial cells, thereby inhibiting the hormonal activity of VEGF. The peptides inhibit the angiogenesis induced by VEGF and human cancer cells. Also, the peptides inhibit growth and metastasis of human cancer cells transplanted to mice. Thus, the peptides can be used to treat angiogenesis-related diseases, including cancer, diabetic retinopathy, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a kit for diagnosing non-pregnancy and a method for diagnosing non-pregnancy of an animal using the same, and more particularly, to a kit for diagnosing non-pregnancy of animal comprising: an assay strip, formed of thin film type paper comprising a plurality of holes for moving a test sample, wherein progesterone-BSA conjugate is immobilized on one end portion as a test line and anti-IgG is immobilized on the other end portion as a control line; and anti-progesterone IgG-gold conjugate for reacting with the test sample such as blood or milk. The inventive kit for diagnosing non-pregnancy can test the non-pregnancy of milch cow without any special device about 20 days after the artificial insemination. Furthermore, more accurate result can be obtained by using the kit since the non-pregnancy diagnosis is performed by comparing color of the test line with that of the control line.

Abstract: An improved delivery device for applying two-component adhesives such as fibrin sealant is disclosed. The improved delivery device includes a pair of syringe bodies for storing a first and a second adhesive components, respectively, a pair of plungers associated with the pair of syringe bodies for expelling the first and the second component from the pair of syringe bodies, and a pair of needles. The needles are connected to the syringe bodies for providing separate passages for the components, and have distal end surfaces which are apart from each other with a predetermined distance, and faced each other with an angle in the range of 10° to less than 180°.
