  • Patent number: 9998034
Abstract: The present invention relates to an energy conversion device using a liquid and, more specifically, to a method and a device for converting mechanical energy into electrical energy by applying an opposite phenomenon to an electrowetting phenomenon. The contact surface with liquid is being changed within a pair of electrodes, and the resulting change in the contact surface with liquid is being utilized for generating electrical energy. The device can be simplified and the manufacturing cost thereof is being reduced, furthermore it is effective in implementing an energy conversion device that is less faulty, by preventing channel blocking phenomenon and not requiring a lubricating layer or an electrode complicatedly patterned on a channel. Besides, it is advantageous in that a flexible device can be realized and a large area application is facilitated by simplifying the device structure.

  • Patent number: 8866622
Abstract: A system and a method for preventing drowsiness are provided. The system for preventing drowsiness calculates brainwaves of a user by receiving a signal around a head of a user without contact, detects a state of the user based on the calculated brainwaves, and performs a necessary function according to the detected state of the user. Thus, convenience is increased when measuring the brainwaves of the driver using the contactless electrodes.

  • Patent number: 8693395
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling IEEE 802.15.4 physical layer operation state is provided. The physical layer operation state controlling apparatus defines an operation state of a physical layer including a Hardwired Low-MAC (HL-MAC) device in which functions of IEEE 802.15.4 MAC layer are hardwired, and includes a state module for controlling the operation state of the physical layer. The state module includes a Finite State Machine (FSM) for, when receiving an event for the operation state of the physical layer, transiting to a state module corresponding to the event and controlling the operation state of the physical layer; and an interrupt handler for converting an interrupt received from the physical layer to the event corresponding to a register of the state module and sending the event to the FSM. Hence, by means of the state machine for the IEEE 802.15.4 PHY, the IEEE 802.15.4 physical layer operation state can be controlled to optimize the operations of the upper MAC.

  • Patent number: 6288681
Abstract: A dual-band antenna for mobile communication unit is provided with a support made of insulating materials, a first and a second helical conductors, and a coaxial feeder connected to an end of each of the helical conductors. The first and the second helical conductors are wound on the support to be separated from each other and have a different resonance frequency, respectively. When a voltage is applied to the first and the second helical conductors through the coaxial feeder, the antenna operates in the optimum performance at two frequency bands. As a result, the unit can use a desired different mobile telecommunication service without changing it. Further, the inventive antenna is designed to be small in size to thereby allow it to be adapted on the mobile telecommunication unit.
