  • Patent number: 9901651
Abstract: The disclosed embodiment relates to a system and method for treating a non-sterile surface of at least a component of a medical device, such as, but not limited to, a cartridge for an injection device. The system for treating a non-sterile surface of a medical device includes a source of electromagnetic radiation and, in some embodiments, a source of laminar airflow. The source of electromagnetic radiation provides exposure and the source of laminar airflow provides laminar airflow to the surface for treatment of the medical device. The method for treating a non-sterile surface includes exposing the non-sterile surface of a cartridge to a pulsed electromagnetic wave. In some embodiments, simultaneous to the pulsed electromagnetic radiation exposure, a laminar airflow can be directed perpendicular to the surface of the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 9872812
Abstract: A method of controlling a compression device controls a vent phase of a compression device having an inflatable bladder capable of being pressurized for applying compression to a part of a subject's body. The method includes delivering pressurized fluid from a source of pressurized fluid to a first inflatable bladder disposed about a portion of the subject's body and venting the pressurized fluid from the first inflatable bladder by opening a first valve. The method further includes monitoring fluid pressure in the first inflatable bladder during the venting of the first inflatable bladder. Based at least in part on the monitored fluid pressure, the first valve is selectively closed and selectively reopened to control fluid pressure in the first inflatable bladder to remain within a desired residual pressure range.

  • Patent number: 9861807
Abstract: According to an aspect of the present disclosure, an automated external defibrillator is configured to deliver one or both of electrical pulses and shocks to a heart of a patient during a cardiac emergency. The defibrillator includes a defibrillator electrode delivery system and a hydrating system. The defibrillator electrode delivery system includes a pair of defibrillation electrode pads. Each pad supports a hydrogel to facilitate the deliverance of one or both of electrical pulses and shocks to a patient. The hydrating system includes a fluid container that maintains a fluid that hydrates the hydrogel over a predetermined time period to prolong the effectiveness of the hydrogel.
