Patent number: 6050892Abstract: An air outlet vent (1) adapted to be mounted in a floor (6) and connected to a heating, ventilating and air-conditioning air supply duct (30) includes a cylindrical housing (2) and a cover plate (4) that covers the top open end of the housing (2). The plate (4) includes a first group of air outlet openings in the form of concentric circular arcuate slits (11) extending over a first sector of the plate (4), and a second group of air outlet openings in the form of radially extending slits (12) in a second sector of the plate (4). The plate (4) is rotatably adjustable in the housing (2). With this arrangement, the direction of the main air flow axis of the air flow pattern generated by the vent can be infinitely rotationally adjusted around an imaginary inverted cone, to direct the air flow where desired and avoid undesirable drafts, while still providing a highly turbulent twisting or spiraling air flow characteristic.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1998Date of Patent: April 18, 2000Assignee: Krantz-TKT GmbHInventor: Franc Sodec

Patent number: 6012642Abstract: The cross-sectional flow area of a fluid duct and/or the flow direction of a fluid flow out of a fluid duct or air outlet is controlled by a control drive with two expansion drives positioned either in axial alignment with each other or with their longitudinal axis extending preferably in parallel to each other. The two drives are thermally separated from each other so that one drive is exposed to the temperature of one fluid while the other drive is exposed to the temperature of another fluid, whereby these fluids may be the same fluid or different fluids or mixture of different fluids. Each expansion drive contains a temperature responsive expansion material so that the power for operating the flow controller is derived solely from the temperature difference between the two fluids and hence any auxiliary energy becomes unnecessary for the control purpose.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1997Date of Patent: January 11, 2000Assignee: H. Patent number: 5556330Abstract: A floor mountable air outlet adapted to distribute a generally vertical or a generally horizontal air stream is disclosed. The outlet includes an uppermost plate having an inner and an outer series of openings inclined relative to the plane of the plate. The plate forms the upper surface of a cylinder and there is mounted within the cylinder a disk shiftable toward and away from the plate. In the uppermost position of the disk the inner series of openings is blocked resulting in a generally vertical air flow, whereas in the lowered position of the disk a generally horizontal flow is obtained.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1995Date of Patent: September 17, 1996Assignee: H. Patent number: 5551915Abstract: A floor well air distribution outlet for forming a trumpet shaped air stream includes a cylindrical casing the open upper end of which is covered by a distribution disk having radially extending slots. A plate spaced below and parallel to said disk includes an inflow opening concentric with the disk. The radial outermost extremities of the slots are defined by soffits sloping downwardly toward the axis of the disk. A first series of soffits is inclined at a steeper angle than the soffits of a second series intervening between the first series. A cover plate includes radially extending tongues partially overlying the slots, the radial extent of the tongues being such as to overlie the innermost radial extremity of the slots of the second series only. A valve is vertically shiftable between two positions respectively unblocking or blocking the inflow opening.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1995Date of Patent: September 3, 1996Assignee: H. Patent number: 5360373Abstract: An upwelling-air distributor for air-conditioning systems. It comprises two concentric, air-permeable cylinders, an outer cylinder (1) and an inner cylinder (2). The cylinders accommodate one or more diaphragms (10 and 11) in the form of flat rings. The distributor is connected to the ventilating system by an air intake (3) at one end. A pipe (6) is accommodated inside the inner cylinder. The pipe is provided with a butterfly valve (7) and is open at the end remote from the air intake. Air can flow through the pipe except when the valve is closed.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1993Date of Patent: November 1, 1994Assignee: H. Krantz-TKT GmbHInventors: Detlef Makulla, Marten Brunk

Patent number: 5340358Abstract: An air vent for the generation of high turbulence air jets is comprised of a rotationally symmetrical casing having a flared discharge mouth. A deflector plate is mounted in the plane of the mouth to define with the mouth an annular discharge opening. An air guide is mounted within the casing that includes an annular flared deflector portion located adjacent the discharge mouth of the casing. Radially extending twist paddles or fins are mounted on the air guide to impart a twist to the air stream. The air guide is preferably adjustably mounted within the casing for movement axially thereof whereby when the deflector portion of the guide is disposed above the plane of the mouth portion a spreading of the air stream is achieved, and when the deflector is located below the plane of the mouth portion a concentration of the stream is achieved, intermediate effects being achieved at intermediate positions of the guide relative to the casing.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1993Date of Patent: August 23, 1994Assignee: H.
