  • Patent number: 7585103
Abstract: A mixing head includes a mixing device which is secured to a housing and has a mixing chamber for mixing at least two plastic components to form a material mixture. Received in a recess of the housing is a cleaning device which has a cleaning piston for back-and-forth movement in relation to the mixing chamber between a first position in which the cleaning piston is retracted from the mixing chamber and a second position in which the cleaning piston extends into the mixing chamber. The cleaning device has a barrier which interacts with a housing wall for pushing the material mixture radially outside. The barrier has a flank which has an incline which is steeper than an incline of the housing wall.

  • Publication number: 20090184436
Abstract: In a method for producing a composite, a carrier component is placed into an opened cavity of a mold. The mold is then closed to a predetermined position, thereby creating an cavity of a first expanded size. To improve venting, a vacuum is generated in the expanded cavity before filling the expanded cavity with a flooding material. A compression step is then executed either at the same time as flooding material is introduced or following the introduction of the flooding material.

  • Publication number: 20090134244
Abstract: A component-feed nozzle for a reaction-mixing head of a reaction injection device includes a housing having a component inlet and a component outlet. Received in the housing is a closing and flow restriction member which is movable by a linear drive between at least two positions. In a first position, the closing and flow restriction member closes the component outlet, and in a second position clears the component outlet, thereby establishing a flow communication between the component inlet and the component outlet. The closing and flow restriction member has at least a first area and a second area, which generate forces in opposite directions, when the component pressure is applied, wherein the areas are sized in such a way that the opposing forces substantially offset one another.

  • Publication number: 20090102086
Abstract: In a method for producing a coated thermoplastic material, thermoplastic material is fed into a twin-screw extruder to produce a homogenous melt as the thermoplastic material is advanced. While the melt is in plastic state an adhesion promoter for a coating material to be applied later or a small amount of a coating material to be applied later as adhesion promoter is added to the melt which is then transferred to an injection mold and allowed to cure to form a thermoplastic body. The thermoplastic body is then coated with the coating material.

  • Publication number: 20090065973
Abstract: In a method of making multi-component plastic molded parts, using an apparatus which includes two outer platens with first half-molds, and a middle platen with second half-molds interacting with the first half-molds such as to define cavities in two parting planes for injection of a plastic melt and/or a PUR mixture, one of the first and second half-molds can move in increments relative to the other one of the first and second half-molds, thereby forming different cavities in the parting planes from cycle to cycle. In a first cycle preforms are produced in respective cavities and then held in one of the first and second half-molds as the other one of the first and second half-molds moves in increments. Further components can then be injected into cavities formed in the parting planes from cycle to cycle, while another process step can be executed from cycle to cycle in free half-molds.

  • Publication number: 20080317893
Abstract: An integrated system for production of composites includes at least one polyurethane unit with a mixing head for mixing a polyol component and an isocyanate component, at least one plasticizing and injection unit, which is suitable for the melting and subsequent injection of a thermoplastic material, and one clamping unit to receive at least one mold. The plasticizing and injection unit and the polyurethane unit can each introduce material to be processed into a mold cavity within the clamping unit. In order to implement a unitary strategy of control and regulation and a unitary approach to operation of this type of integrated system apparatus, a single central control unit and at least one common supply device are provided, with the central control unit being connected at least with the at least one supply device. The at least one common supply device acts at least on both the polyurethane unit and the plasticizing and injection unit.
