  • Patent number: 5429469
Abstract: Installations for trans-loading piece goods in the form of load units (3) such as containers, returnable vessels, semi-trailers or the like between road and railborne vehicles (2) comprise a single or multiple storey store (5, 6) for the load units (3) on one side of a single or multiple track railway line (1), a single or multiple lane roadway (9) on the other side of the store (5, 6) as well as lifting gear means (10, 11) for transferring the load units (3). In order to reduce the required floor area for simplifying the lifting gear means to be employed as well as accelerating the transfer, the store (5, 6) in such an installation is to be divided longitudinally into two parts with an operating space (7) accommodated between the store portions (5, 6) and having fixed to the four comers of the operating space (7) one load lifting gear means (11) each. The width of the operating space (7) corresponds at least to the length of the largest load unit which is to be transferred.

  • Patent number: 5329652
Abstract: A deployable bridge includes a plurality of identical bridge sections each having two identical track elements. Each track element has a roadway carrier, a bottom boom and adjustment elements connecting the bottom boom with the roadway carrier. The bottom boom of each track element includes a mid section and two end sections flanking the mid section. Each track element further comprises pillars having opposite first and second ends. The first end of the pillars is articulated to the mid section of the bottom boom. Each track element also has a drive shaft assembly suspended from the track element; spindle sleeves inserted on the drive shaft assembly; and a spindle head threadedly mounted on each spindle sleeve. The pillars are articulated by the second end thereof to a respective spindle head.

  • Patent number: 5297308
Abstract: A bridge includes a bridge element which has a basic bridge body; a folding ramp situated at opposite sloped end faces of the bridge body; a hinge connection pivotally attaching each folding ramp to the bridge body; and a locking device supported by the bridge body for locking the folding ramp to the bridge body in the downfolded position of the ramp in which the ramp forms a common access ramp with the respective sloped end face of the bridge body. The locking device includes a locking pin and an actuating device for moving the locking pin into a locking position or into a withdrawn position. In the locking position the locking pin extends into a locking pin-receiving opening of the folding ramp if the folding ramp is in its downfolded position or into a locking pin-receiving opening of an adjoining basic bridge body in the upfolded position of the folding ramp. The hinge connection includes a double-jointed lever connected to the bridge body and the respective folding ramp by pivotal joints.

  • Patent number: 5192180
Abstract: An apparatus including a frame, a cantilever arm movably mounted on the frame, and a servomotor operatively connected to the frame and the cantilever arm for setting a height position of the cantilever arm. The servomotor is exposed to tension loads derived from forces acting on the cantilever arm. The apparatus further includes a device for relieving the servomotor of the tension loads for an arbitrary period. The device includes a tension member attached parallel to the servomotor for the arbitrary period. The device further has an intermediate member having a first pivot joint operatively articulated to the cantilever arm for introducing the tension loads into the intermediate member, a second pivot joint for being coupled to an end of the tension member and a third pivot joint for being releasably coupled to the servomotor. The first, second and third pivot joints are spaced from one another and form the three corners of an imaginary triangle.

  • Patent number: 5135644
Abstract: A belt assembly for an overhead magnetic separator has a belt having an inner face and an opposite outer face and a pair of opposite ends one of which is cut away on the inner face and the other which is cut away on the outer face so that the cut-away portions can normally be lapped against each other to form the belt into an endless loop of substantially uniform thickness. The belt further is formed at the other end on the inner face with a shallow transverse inner groove. Respective flat inner and outer nonmagnetic strips engage the respective faces of the belt at its lapped ends with the inner strip lying in the groove. A plurality of nonmagnetic threaded studs fixed in the inner strip project through the lapped belt ends and through the outer strip and respective nonmagnetic nuts on the studs bear on the outer strip and clamp the lapped belt ends between the strips. A layer of elastomeric material is provided on the inner strip generally level with the inner belt face.

  • Patent number: 5090549
Abstract: A conveyor system includes a back arm pivotal about a first vertical axis; a discharge arm pivotal about a horizontal axis and about the first vertical axis; a discharge belt mounted on the discharge arm and extending rearward, beyond the first vertical axis, to the back arm; and a connecting bridge pivotal about second and third vertical axes, and supported on a separate, movable device so as to be longitudinally displaceable. The connecting bridge is articulated to a component of the conveyor system above the back arm. The second vertical axis is spaced from the first vertical axis at a predetermined distance and disposed diametrally opposite a discharge end of the discharge belt with respect to the first vertical axis. There is further provided a connecting belt mounted on the connecting bridge and feeding the discharge belt.
