Either bar provides an aperture, which is too small to permit the locking mechanism to be picked or pried, but which is operatively positioned and sufficiently large to provide access for a key to the keyway of the locking mechanism.

    Abstract: A U-lock holder for stowing a U-lock on a bicycle frame. The holder comprises a brace for connection to a leg of the U-lock, and a bracket for connection to a part of the bicycle frame. The brace and the bracket are adapted for engagement and disengagement with and from each other. The brace includes a collar, a tongue, and opposed intermediate articulations between the collar and the tongue. The bracket includes a mount, a channel, a saddle, and opposed intermediate guides between the channel and the saddle. The collar is adapted to receive and to be affixed to a leg of the U-lock. The mount is adapted to abut against the bicycle frame. A strap tightly affixes the bracket to the bicycle frame. Mating of the brace and the bracket effect simultaneous engagement of (1) the tongue and the articulations of the brace, and (2) the channel and the guides of the bracket.

    Abstract: A keyway protector having housing and the slider. The housing hugs the crossbar of a U-lock and secured by screws. The slider fits into a shallow depression in the inner surface of the housing and moves between open and closed positions. In the open position, an aperture in the housing, a hole in the slider, and the keyway are aligned to allow access to the keyway. In the closed position, the slider hole is not aligned, denying access to the keyway. A knob outside the housing is used to move the slider. Protrusions in opposed pivoting arms on the slider snap into opposed notches in the depression walls to hold the slider in the open or closed position.

The tether denies access to the screw when attached to the knob. The tether has a locking head with an opening for attachment to the knob and a cable extending from the locking head.

    Abstract: A locking arrangement configured to secure portable equipment includes a tubular lock having a pair of locking arms projecting from a face of the lock body. Each locking arm has a shank portion and a wing portion, the wing portion extending from the end of the shank at a right angle thereto. Each wing has a substantially flat surface. The locking arms are disposed adjacent to one another, and in the unlocked configuration, the wings of both arms are in parallel opposition such that their flat surfaces substantially meet. In the locked configuration, the wings are parallel to each other but extend in opposite directions outside the envelope. This opposite orientation of the wing members prevents the lock from being withdrawn through the locking port. Moreover, if the two shanks are seated within a port whose dimensions closely match those defined by the shanks themselves, rotation of the lock will be substantially prevented.

A lock bolt, operated by the locking mechanism, extends from the alarm housing into a shaped depression in the receiver to secure the alarm housing to the receiver, and retracts from the depression to permit removal of the alarm housing from the receiver. The audible alarm is triggered by a motion detector or by cutting an attached cable.

One embodiment includes a generally U-shaped ring with a hollow cylindrical crossbar that sits within a cavity in a block mounted flush with a concrete surface. One end of each of a pair of legs fits into the crossbar and acts as a bearing on which the ring pivots. The legs extend through the block into the concrete as an anchor. Another embodiment includes a generally U-shaped ring that is pivotally mounted in a block. Anchor bolts extend through holes in the block into the concrete surface. A rounded cover is secured to the block, denying access to the anchor bolts, and includes a cavity so that the ring lays horizontally within the cover when not in use.

    Abstract: A security frame for securing a portable article to a stationary object. The body of the security frame has at least one central arm with two legs connected at the outer end by a cross piece, and a pair of outer arms, each having two legs connected at the outer end by a cross piece. A first joint attaches the inner end of one leg from each arm together and a second joint attaches the inner end of the other leg from each arm together. The joints are preferably pivoting to allow the arms to pivot between a collapsed state and an open state. Both joints have openings that are axially aligned. A locking shaft extends through the first opening and then the second opening, and has a stop to prevent it from going completely through the first opening. The portable article fits within the legs of the arms and is retained there by the locking shaft. The locking shaft includes a locking mechanism that is a component of a means by which the locking shaft is secured into said openings and to a stationary object.

The keyway protector generates enough friction against the crossbar to allow only manual rotation, and it provides a secure grip for ease in rotation. A keyway aperture allows access to the U-lock keyway when in an unprotective position and denies access when in a protective position. When the U-lock is engaged, a shackle leg extends through a shackle slot, preventing longitudinal movement of the keyway protector along the crossbar. A lip at the edge of the keyway protector limits the distance that the keyway protector can be slipped onto the crossbar and eliminates alignment problems.

    Abstract: A cable lock attachment for portable articles that is protected from tampering, whether by twisting or otherwise, when the associated cable lock is operational. The attachment comprises a shell with concentric axial ports, one large and one small, and opposed lateral ports. The small port is in proximity to a threaded socket in the article. A collar having a wide head and narrow stem fits through the large port and the stem fits into the small port with the head remaining inside the shell and the stem abutting the article. The stem is secured to the article by a screw that has an internal hex head. The stem is slightly longer than the thickness of the shell so that the shell is free to swivel about the stem when secured. The cable extends through the lateral ports, preventing access to the screw when the cable lock is secured.

The body has a pair of aligned holes in the wall and a locking mechanism. The shackle is a U-shaped, solid rod, where one leg has a bent foot that fits into one aligned hole and the other leg has a shaped foot adapted to be captured by the locking mechanism after being inserted into the other aligned hole. The tether includes a length of flexible material and a cuff. The length is a braided cable or a chain, and is sheathed. A hardened steel cuff is rotatably connected to the one end of the length. The cuff has a number of configurations of openings through which components of the U-lock are inserted before the U-lock is assembled. A loop is connected to the other end of the length and is sized to permit the cuff, but not the U-lock, to pass through.

The body includes a seat for fastening the body to the bicycle frame.
