Abstract: A cabinet x-ray incorporates an x-ray tube, an x-ray detector, and a real-time camera, either High Definition or Standard Resolution, for the production of organic and non-organic images. The computing device receives video data from the real-time camera and the x-ray detector and determines, based on the video data, an overlay of the captured x-ray image with the captured real-time image or display images adjacently i.e. Picture-In-Picture (PIP). The apparatus captures a real-time image simultaneously with the x-ray image allowing a cabinet x-ray unit to attain and optimize images with exact orientation of the 2 images.

  • Publication number: 20240353356
Abstract: A cabinet irradiator incorporates an x-ray tube, a moveable sample stage, dosimeter, and a real-time camera. A computing device receives video data from the real-time camera and based on the video data the computing device manipulates the sample stage height vertically in relationship to the sample chamber floor and the output window of the x-ray tube to be able to deliver the maximum dose rate to the entire sample as quickly as possible. A real-time image is captured and the image is correlated to move the sample stage vertically attaining a closer proximity to the exit window of the x-ray tube to attain and maximize dosage received by the sample in the shortest duration of time and operating the system to attain the desired prescribed dose.

  • Publication number: 20230376708
Abstract: The present invention relates to the requirements for specimen tracking and maintenance in a cabinet x-ray system incorporating an x-ray tube, an x-ray detector, and an optical camera for the production of blended images. Excised tissue specimens are amorphous and quickly loose anatomical registration at the margins. The current device provides for breast specimens for a variety of sizes to be maintained accurately while successive images are acquired. Additionally, the base of the unit contains an RFID tag which ensures proper identification of the sample. In particular, the invention relates to a system and method with corresponding apparatus for acquiring multiple images in succession while maintaining specimen geometry and ensuring the image information is correctly identified with the corresponding patient.

  • Patent number: 10488351
Abstract: The aspects of the present disclosure are directed to a method and system for producing tomosynthesis images of a breast specimen with the capability of attaining images with geometric magnification. In one embodiment, an x-ray source delivers x-rays through a specimen of excised tissue and forms an image at a digital x-ray detector with the resultant image enlarging as the specimen is moved closer to the x-ray source. Multiple x-ray images are taken as the x-ray source moves relative to the stationary breast specimen. The source may travel substantially along a path while the detector remains stationary throughout and the source remains substantially equidistant from the specimen platform. The set of x-ray image data taken at the different points are combined to form a tomosynthesis image that can be viewed in different formats, alone or as an adjunct to conventional specimen radiography.
