Abstract: The capacitor contains a film layer comprising essentially a vinylidene fluoride resin and a coating layer composed of a mixture of the vinylidene fluoride resin and a polymer substantially incompatible with the vinylidene fluoride resin and having a critical surface tension of 30 dyn/cm or higher.The capacitor components as set forth hereinabove can render the capacitor compact without decreasing the performance inherent in the polyvinyl fluoride resin.
Abstract: A compound having the general formula (I) is derived from a cephalosporin; ##STR1## wherein R' is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an alkali metal.A pharmaceutical composition containing the compound is excellent in an antibacterial activity, the activity being recovered by the action of an activating enzyme in a living body although the compound per se shows a low activity against the beneficial bacterial colonies in a living body.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a catalyst suitable for dehydrocoupling of toluene or xylene, represented by the general formula (I):M.sub.a Tl.sub.b O.sub.c (I),wherein M represents yttrium, zinc or zirconium; a denotes a number in a range of 0.25 to 5, b denotes 1, and c denotes a number necessary for fulfilling the respective average atomic valencies of M and Tl in the oxidation states in which they exist in the composition represented by the formula (I), and a process for dehydrocoupling of toluene or xylene in the presence of the catalyst represented by the general formula (I).
Abstract: A film prepared by molding a resin compound of a polyvinylidene fluoride admixed with a polycarbonate and/or a thermoplastic polyester and stretching into at least one direction is disclosed. The film shows excellent dielectric properties.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for measuring interfacial electrokinetic phenomena such as electrophoresis by applying stationary electric field to a sample, wherein the voltage between two points in the sample other than the electrodes for an electric current application is detected and the electric current is supplied to the sample to maintain the detected voltage constant, and the sample is preheated while the particles being substantially kept in a stationary state by applying an alternating voltage prior to the application of the stationary voltage, to thereby obtain the mobility of the charged particle in the sample at high accuracy.
Abstract: A latex of a highly crosslinked butadiene rubber polymer comprising not less than 50% of butadiene, 1.0 to 10% of a crosslinking agent and a remainder of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer copolymerizable with butadiene, and having a particle size of 600 to 3,000 .ANG. and a degree of swelling of not greater than 7 is obtained by one or more stages of emulsion polymerization. By polymerizing 15 to 30 parts of a monomer mixture of an alkyl methacrylate, an aromatic vinyl monomer, and optionally a crosslinking agent and an unsaturated nitrile in the presence of 85 to 70 parts of the rubber polymer, a graft copolymer is obtained. A composition comprising 2 to 40% of this graft copolymer and 98 to 60% of a vinyl chloride resin possesses high impact resistance coupled with improved stress-whitening resistance, which properties cannot be easily obtained at the same time in conventional resin compositions.
Abstract: An electrooptical solid element comprises a formed resin composition comprising a low molecular polar substance having a Kerr type electrooptical effect, and an organic polymer substance compatible with the low molecular polar substance. The formed resin composition is prepared by a method such as melt mixing on rollers, or dissolution in a common solvent followed by evaporation of the solvent. This formed resin composition is prepared in various shapes such as a polygon, a film, a prism and a polygonal pole. At least a pair of electrodes are provided on the surfaces of the formed resin composition, and further at least one of the electrodes may can be made of a transparent material.
Abstract: A heat-shrinkable multilayer laminate film possessing excellent heat resistance, oil resistance and gas-barrier properties is obtained by interposing one intermediate layer of a thermoplastic resin having a crystalline melting point of from 70.degree. to 100.degree. C. between a core layer of a vinylidene chloride copolymer and outer surface layers of an ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer having a crystalline melting point of not lower than 110.degree. C. or a mixture of this ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer and an .alpha.-olefin polymer having a crystalline melting point of from 80.degree. to 100.degree. C. The thus obtained laminate film can be in sheet or tubular form, and is suitable for use in packaging by heat shrinkage raw meat, processed meat, cheese and other fat-containing food.

Abstract: A method for producing spherical particles of carbon and of activated carbon is described, in which a mixture of a pitch and a viscosity-reducing agent is melt-extruded into a form of string-like bodies, the thus obtained string-like bodies are broken into stick-like bodies of a length to diameter ratio of 1 to 5 and the stick-like bodies are thermally deformed utilizing hot water as a thermal medium into spherical particles. The spherical particles are then subjected to conventional extraction to remove the viscosity-reducing agent therefrom, and the thus obtained spherical particles of pitch are converted into spherical particles of carbon or of activated carbon.
Abstract: A vacuum packaging method and apparatus for packaging solid objects such as food products of various shapes automatically. A web of tubular plastic film is supplied from a roll and drawn over an opening core which opens the plastic film into a rectangular shape. The film is then drawn over the object to be packaged and cut to a predetermined length. In one embodiment, the front end of the film is then sealed and the object urged towards the sealed end. In another embodiment, both ends of the film are left open at this point. The object with the film positioned therearound is transferred to a vacuum chamber. Prior to the chamber being evacuated, tension is applied to the film so as to prevent the formation of creases.

Abstract: A vinylidene fluoride resin composition is obtained by mixing into a vinylidene fluoride resin a copolymer of a monomer (A) having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is H or CH.sub.3, and X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 are each a saturated hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, H or halogen, and a monomer (B) having the formula: ##STR2## wherein R.sub.2 is H or CH.sub.3 and R.sub.3 is a saturated hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 5 carbon atoms. Shaped products, particularly films obtained from this composition exhibit excellent ultraviolet shielding off effect and excellent transparency.
Abstract: An ultrasonic image device such as may be used in a holography system or scanning system and having a piezoelectric transducer in which the conversion efficiency and phase are substantially constant over a wide frequency range. A piezoelectric sheet 5 .mu.m to 1000 .mu.m thick is used for a piezoelectric element. The piezoelectric sheet is constructed of a macromolecular material including polymers and copolymers of polar monomers. A high frequency signal input device applies to the electrodes coupled to the piezoelectric sheet high frequency signals of different frequencies in a range around a fundamental resonance of the piezoelectric sheet of .+-.10 to .+-.70% of the fundamental resonance frequency.
