  • Patent number: 6213043
Abstract: A method for counteracting heeling of a vessel due to a movement of first masses on the vessel, by means of movement of second masses thereon, which movements create respective static movements upon the vessel's center of gravity. The movement of the second masses is performed synchronously with the movement of the first masses by ensuring that the static movement which is generated by the movement of the second masses continuously and completely counteracts the static movement as a result of the movement of the first masses. A device is set forth for implementing the method.

  • Patent number: 6155077
Abstract: A method for condensation of a gas with several fractions such as a gas from the tank compartment in an oil tanker during loading. The gas is supplied to a first heat exchanger and cooled therein by a coolant. Condensed and non-condensed gas fractions are supplied separately from the heat exchanger. For further exploitation of the cooled, non-condensed gas fractions, these and an additional gas are passed separately from the tank compartment to a second heat exchanger where the non-condensed fractions cool the gas and cause condensation of its fractions with a condensation temperature which is less than the temperature of the non-condensed gas fractions from the first heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 6135695
Abstract: In a method and a device for vertically lifting a horizontally arranged cylindrical object, especially a rocket (50), from a base (40) by means of one or more lifting yokes (61) which are suspended in a lifting device (70), preferably comprising one or more lifting wires (71) which are suspended from a crane beam (24), the lifting yoke (61) is placed above the object (50) and connected thereto, jacks (62) are provided between the base (40) and the lifting yoke (61), the lifting yoke (61) with the object (50) are lifted up with the jacks (62) from the base (40) to a critical height for the lift, the tension in the lifting wires (71) is increased, thus transferring the weight of the lifting yoke (61) and the object (50) from the jacks (62) to the lifting wires (71), and the lifting yoke (61) with the object (62) are lifted up from the jacks (62) by means of the lifting wires (71).

  • Patent number: 6024006
Abstract: In a method for transferring a horizontally arranged rocket from a vessel to a floating structure, a ramp is provided in a position projecting out from the vessel, entirely or partially below a lifting device provided on a floating structure, and is connected to the floating structure. The rocket is moved completely or partially out on the ramp, and is lifted over to the floating structure by the floating structure's lifting device.

  • Patent number: 5932830
Abstract: A method of assembling, preparing, transporting to a launch site, and launching a rocket is disclosed. The rocket includes multiple stages and a payload to be carried into space. The rocket's longitudinal main axis extends horizontally during the assembling, preparing, and transporting of the rocket. The completed rocket may be transferred from a ship to a floatable structure with the rocket's main axis extending horizontally. The floatable structure can be movable and can raise the rocket prior to launching the rocket into space.

  • Patent number: 5918306
Abstract: A device for assembling, transporting and launching rockets carrying a payload for transportation into space includes a ship and a floatable structure. The ship includes facilities on a covered deck to assemble multiple rockets in a horizontal orientation. The assembled rockets are hoisted from the ship to the floatable platform in a horizontal orientation. The floatable structure includes a hanger for the rockets, and facilities necessary for moving each horizontally oriented rocket to a launching pad, and for raising the rocket into a vertical position. A control room, onboard the ship, permits monitoring and control of the assembly of the rocket onboard the ship and of the launching of the rocket from the floatable platform.

  • Patent number: 5906171
Abstract: A floating runway is provided for use at sea having a horizontal, top surface whereupon aircraft may operate during landing and take-off. A number of floating, releasably interconnected supporting section are connected to a number of bridge sections mounted alternately and consecutively in a longitudinal direction of the runway. The number of supporting sections and the number of bridge sections include ends, as viewed in the logitudinal direction of the runway having respective abutment portions adapted for mutual abutment for interconnection of the section. The abutment portions including cantilevered beam portions projecting away from mid portions of the respective sections as reviewed in the longitudinal direction thereof. The beam portions of the bridge sections include a lower surface and an upper surface of the beam portions of the supporting sections arranged the same distance from the top surface.

  • Patent number: 5819542
Abstract: A heat exchanger device, comprising a first heat exchanger for evaporation of liquid natural gas (LNG), and a second heat exchanger for superheating of gaseous natural gas (NG). The heat exchangers (1) are arranged for heating these fluids by means of a heating medium and have an outlet which is connected to a mixing device (20) for mixing the heated fluids with the corresponding unheated fluids. According to the invention the heat exchangers (1) comprise a common housing (2), in which there are provided separate passages (7, 8) for the fluids. The mixing device (2) constitutes a unit together with the housing (2) and has a single mixing chamber (23) with one single fluid outlet (30). In separate passages (7, 8) there are provided valves (10, 26) and (13, 28) respectively for the supply of LNG or NG in the housing (1) and the mixing chamber (23).
