Patent number: 5740662Abstract: A bale wrapper apparatus (10) which comprises: a frame (13); a towbar (14) attached to and projecting forwardly of the frame (13) to enable the apparatus to be towed behind a propelling vehicle (11); a arch structure (15) forming part of said frame (13) and facing in the intended direction of travel, said structure being of sufficient size to allow a bale (12) lying on the ground to pass through the arch (15) when the apparatus (10) is moved forwardly; a bale lifting device (16) mounted on the frame (13) and operative to lift a bale (12) lying on the ground to a bale-wrapping position; means (19) for rotating the bale (12) about a substantially horizontal axis (24) extending generally parallel to the direction of travel when the bale (12) has been lifted to the bale-wrapping position; means (20) for holding a supply reel (29) of stretchable plastics film for wrapping the bale (12); means (21) for causing relative rotation between the supply reel (29) and the bale (12) about a substantially vertical axis (22),Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1996Date of Patent: April 21, 1998Assignee: Kverneland Underhaug A/sInventors: Erling Royneberg, Jahn Haugstad, Frode Underhaug, Trygve Tjermestad

Patent number: 5272861Abstract: A rotary agricultural tool which may be incorporated in a number of different types of agricultural equipment, such as in a device for chopping up bulk material is disclosed. The rotary tool has an elongate cutter body mounted in a frame for rotation about a substantially horizontal axis and carrying on its outer periphery pivotally mounted cutter blades, a housing extending partly around the cutter body, and feed rollers for feeding the bulk material to the cutter body. The blades are arranged in pairs of blades.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 1992Date of Patent: December 28, 1993Assignee: Kverneland Underhaug ASInventor: Erling Roynberg

Patent number: 5224323Abstract: There is disclosed a bale wrapper apparatus (10) which can apply stretchable plastics film around a round-bale (17) and which comprises a main frame (13) which can be coupled to the front or rear of a propelling vehicle (12), a turntable (16) mounted on the main frame (13) and adapted to receive a round-bale (17) thereon with its axis (18) extending substantially horizontally, means (19, 20) for rotating the bale (17) about its axis (18), and means for rotating the turntable (16) about a vertical axis (21) so that film withdrawn from a film dispenser reel (not shown) can automatically apply air tight wrapping around the bale upon rotation of the bale about its axis (18) and rotation of the turntable about axis (21). An automatic film applicator (not shown) is mounted on the turntable and automatically cuts the film after a bale has been wrapped, and holds the cut end to apply this to a newly deposited bale on the turntable.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1991Date of Patent: July 6, 1993Assignee: Kverneland Underhaug ASInventor: Njaal Fykse

Patent number: 5083978Abstract: There is disclosed a root crop harvesting machine, especially a potato harvesting machine which can dig-up two rows of crop and then discharging the crop laterally of the machine to any required extent via an elevator which is adjusted to a lateral discharge mode, as shown in FIG. 1, to permit the dug-up crop to be deposited in rows for drying purposes. Once drying has been completed, the same machine can then be used to pick-up the dried crop and then, following adjustment of the elevator to an elevational position as shown in FIG. 2, the dried crop can be discharged into a collecting vehicle. The harvesting machine of the invention therefore has two discharge functions, and can replace two existing pieces of equipment. The invention also enables novel methods of crop harvesting to be carried out.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 1990Date of Patent: January 28, 1992Assignee: Kverneland Underhaug ASInventor: Erling Royneberg
