    Abstract: A system for manufacturing tamper evident packaging, for example a bag with a tamper evident seal, includes a noncontact sealing device, a manufacturing conveyor, and in some implementations, a tensioning device and a closure device. The manufacturing conveyor conveys the bag to opposing pairs of in-feed belts of the non-contact sealing device, wherein the belts hold opposing sides of the bag together and a laser with an outlet positioned between a first pair of the belts spot welds the bag along a specified line to fuse the opposing sides of the bag together proximate an opening of the bag. In implementations including the tensioning device and the closure device, the tensioning device draws the opposing sides of the bag together prior to the bag entering the noncontact sealing device, and the closure device applies a removably coupleable closure to the bag after the bag exits the non-contact sealing device.

    Abstract: Apparatus for sealing a plurality of spaced spots across the flattened open end of a filled plastic bag, the bag is moved along a conveyor past a sealing mechanism where a plurality of spaced spots are welded or fused across the open end of the bag, the bag is then moved to a bag closing device where the bag neck is gathered and a removable closure attached to the gathered neck of the bag. The method includes moving a filled bag to a sealing unit where a plurality of spaced spots are placed across the flattened open end of the bag, the partially sealed bag has its open end gathered, and the bag moved to a closing station where a removable closure is placed around the gathered neck of the bag.

    Abstract: An idler rim is freely rotatably mounted adjacent the first closing ring of a bag closing device. In one embodiment, an idler rim is also placed on a pinch roller that engages the closing ring. These idler rims allow the package to be brought laterally more closely to the closing station so that the closure can be placed more tightly on the end of the package. There also is provided a bracket for mounting the entire bag closing device so that the closing device can be adjusted pivotally and linearly toward the conveyor.

A gap is provided between the transversely spaced sets of closure material so that, by the application of a lateral force, the connecting material is separated in tension as one closure moves laterally relative to the other.

    Abstract: From the bottom of a vertical magazine, relatively large-sized stiffly flexible "Kwik Lok" bag closures (die stamped from 0.032" sheet polystyrene), and vertically stacked therein, compacted flatwise on each other, are individually power fed edge to edge sequentially along a rigid guide extending at a right angle forwardly from the bottom of the magazine and then dipping at its forward end to incline the front portion of the leading closure downward and thus facilitate manual insertion of a bunched polyethylene bag neck into a bag neck capturing aperture opening from the forward edge of the closure. The closures are fed one at a time from the magazine into the guide by a single revolution clutch which is triggered by each manual application to a bag neck of the forwardmost closure in the guide.
