Abstract: A hot coil with high quality and low cost is produced by rolling a billet continuously prepared with a 70 to 120 mm middle thickness continuous casting mechanism, a billet conveying table, a heating mechanism, a high draft rough rolling mill, a finishing rolling mill, and a down coiler, which components are all disposed closely together along a straight line. The center surface temperature of the billet and a peripheral velocity of the roll of the high draft rough rolling mill are controlled within a predetermined range to provide for continuous rolling through the system.
Abstract: A method for disposing of medical waste materials comprises placing waste materials into a container, sealing the container, placing the sealed container into a melting furnace together with metal, and heating the furnace to a temperature sufficient to completely combust or melt the container and the waste materials. An apparatus for disposing of medical waste material has a container with an opening in its top surface and a lid for sealing the container. The container is supported by a support stand including a base, a cover for closing the opening of the container, and a pedal for moving the cover between an open and a closed position.
Abstract: An electrode adding apparatus which adds a new electrode to an electrode held by the electrode holder of an electric furnace by screwing the lower end of the new electrode in the upper end of the electrode held by the electrode holder, when the electrode held by the electrode holder is consumed. In adding the new electrode to the consumed electrode, the new electrode is gripped by a clamping device rotatably held by a casing, then the casing is transported by a crane to bring the new electrode directly above the consumed electrode, and following which the casing is lowered to position the new electrode in alignment with the consumed electrode. Then, the clamping device is driven for rotation to screw the lower end of the new electrode in the upper end of the consumed electrode. In adding the new electrode to the consumed electrode, the rotative reaction force of the casing is received by the electrode holder so that the casing is restrained from rotation.

Abstract: A method of preheating iron scraps in steel-making by the electric arc furnace, by utilizing high-temperature exhaust gas to be discharged from the electric arc furnace. This method shortens, to a large extent, the time required for melting iron scraps and economizes in energy.
Abstract: A method of continuous casting using a crane and a ladle bogie which is adapted to travel between the ladle shunting position and the position right above a tundish, whereby a ladle emptied and a ladle filled with molten steel are exchanged quickly, without a break in the teeming operation.
