Abstract: A single lens reflex camera having a back-up shutter, in addition to an exposure timing shutter, that covers the film to prevent it from being exposed while the photographer is viewing the subject through the main lens. An illuminated dated image is generated within the camera body and projected onto the emulsion side of the film in conjunction with primary image. A pivotable panel that forms part of the back-up shutter has a cutaway area through which a portion of the projection system for the data image passes as the panel moves between open and closed position. The projection system includes a frame engaged by the adjacent edge of the back-up shutter panel in a light-tight manner when the panel is in its closed position.
Abstract: A camera provided with an illuminated display positioned behind the frame to be exposed, the display being contained within a space defined by the back of the film. One of the guide rollers that positions the film is divided to leave a gap at its center permitting a data image from the display to be recorded on a portion of the film near the edge of a frame that would otherwise be obscured. Interchangeable components may be used to permit the data to be superimposed on the primary image or recorded in a space between frames.
Abstract: A solar chronometer in which a style is aligned with the celestial pole and an equatorial member, preferably in the shape of a ring, is aligned with the equator. The style and equatorial member cast shadows upon a chart and the point where the shadows intersect indicates the hour and the date.
