    Abstract: There is provided an apparatus having a controller generates a signal in response to receiving an alarm indication from a sensor, the alarm indication indicative of an alert condition threatening lives or property. A transmitter directly transmits a message signal in response to the signal generated by the controller to a remote telecommunication device that is operated by a user. The controller, the sensor, the alert condition and the transmitter are all on-site in the same location.
