Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for determining a business level metric for assessing the impact of performance degradation of IT components upon the revenue stream of an entity is provided. In one embodiment, the business level metric is determined by determining business functions that comprises a revenue stream for a line of business. Weights are then assigned to each business function, wherein the weights indicate the relative importance of each business function in relation to the other business functions. For each business function, the business processes that enable the completion of a specific business function are determined and weights. For each business process, critical service points for measuring the performance of supporting information technology components for the business process are determined and weights are assigned. The critical service points are then monitored and a partial business level metric raw score is determined.

  • Patent number: 8318586
Abstract: Two plates, each comprising a thin layer of silicon or silicon oxide at a surface thereof, are bonded by subjecting the thin layer of at least one of the plates to a surface treatment step forming a silicon oxynitride superficial thin film with a thickness of less than 5nm. The thin film is performed with a nitrogen-based plasma generated by an inductively coupled plasma source. Furthermore, a potential difference applied between the plasma and a substrate holder supporting said plate during the surface treatment step is less than 50 V, advantageously less than 15 V and preferably zero. This enables a defect-free bonding interface to be obtained irrespective of a temperature of any heat treatment carried out after a contacting step between the respective thin layers of the two plates.

  • Patent number: 8320937
Abstract: In a method and arrangement for providing a reliable location for a communication terminal, a first location is obtained for the terminal by means of a first access mechanism. A second location is also obtained for the terminal by means of a second access mechanism, and the obtained first and second locations are then compared. The location of the terminal is validated if the obtained first and second locations are found to be substantially equal. Thereby, a more reliable location of the terminal can be used to support communication services requiring or needing such position information, such as emergency services. The validated location of the terminal can also be used for validating the location of an end point used by the terminal in an access network with fixed end points, or for validating a used positioning mechanism.
