Abstract: A device for measuring the profile of single optical pulses includes an optical fiber loop (1, F) for creating a series of replica pulses (Ri) of the initial optical pulse, starting from the initial optical pulse (I), an automatic gain control (2, 3, 4, AMP) for adjusting the amplitudes of replica pulses (Ri) to values substantially the same as each other, an optical sampler (7, Ech) for forming optical samples (Ei) starting from replica pulses (Ri), and a detector (D) for forming an electrical signal from the optical samples (Ei). The device is applicable to measurement of single optical or electrical pulses or pulses with a low repetition rate.
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are disclosed for detecting encrypted Internet Protocol packet streams. A probe stream having a known observable parameter is generated. The observable parameter exhibits a known characteristic of a known type of data encrypted within a stream of packets. The probe stream is communicated to a network element via a communications network. When the probe stream is received by the network element, the network element can compare the known observable parameter to an actual value. Any difference between the known observable parameter and the actual value can be used to correct for network-induced variation and other effects, thus ensuring accurate detection and identification of data types within encrypted streams of packets.

Abstract: A method and system for network-based control over voice calling from a client telephony device. A client telephony device receives a user-request to place a voice call from the client telephony device and responsively sends to a controller, via a packet-data connection, a request for authorization to place the voice call. The client telephony device then receives from the controller, via the packet-data connection, a response to the request. And the client telephony device then sends to a network entity (e.g., a switch) a call origination request message seeking to initiate the voice call, only if the response from the controller indicates that the client telephony device is authorized to place the voice call. Further, the controller can also monitor a account balance for the client telephony device and direct the device to disconnect the call when the balance is exhausted.
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for identifying high traffic origin-destination node pairs in a packet based network and for estimating the mean traffic between the high traffic origin-destination node pairs. High traffic origin-destination node pairs may be identified in accordance with the present invention by modeling the variance of traffic in a static routing environment and identifying the origin-destination node pairs with a high variance as high traffic origin-destination node pairs. For estimating purposes, traffic between low traffic origin-destination node pairs may be assumed to be a predetermined value, such as zero, to reduce the number of variables to estimate. Routing changes necessary to create a full rank routing matrix may be identified and applied to the network, and link utilization information collected under each routing scenario may be used to estimate the mean traffic between the high traffic origin-destination node pairs.
Abstract: One embodiment relates to a method of processing packets by a network stack. A first data packet is received from a client via a network, and a network buffer is allocated for the data packet. An indication is given that the data packet is ready for reading by an application. In addition, the network buffer is cached in a network buffer cache. Subsequently, response data may be received from the application, and the network buffer may be re-used from the network buffer cache. The response data may be sent in a second data packet to the client via the network. Finally, the network buffer may be freed. Other embodiments, aspects, and features are also disclosed.

Abstract: A joint detector that improves the performance of receiving a downlink control channel signal for a near-end mobile terminal in the presence of a stronger control channel signal addressed to a far-end mobile terminal sharing the same OVSF, or channelization, code through the use of orthogonal signature sequences. Depending on the specific embodiment, the joint detector may produce the desired bits for the control signal of interest, or may produce detected bits for all control signals sharing the same OVSF code. The joint detector despreads and combines the received code-multiplexed signal, utilizing knowledge of the cross correlations of the set of signature sequences and time-varying channel coefficients to alleviate performance degradation caused by interference from other signals.
Abstract: Simultaneous Ring Called Party Identification services identify an actual communications address (or other called party identifier) of an answering communications device in a simultaneous ring service. In some of the exemplary embodiments, a calling party uses a communications device that includes a computer program product—a Simultaneous Ring Called Party Identification Module—that requests a Simultaneous Ring Called Party Identification signal that includes a communications address of an answering communications device. In exemplary embodiments, the Simultaneous Ring Called Party Identification signal is updated with an second incoming communication from a third party (e.g., call waiting caller) and is communicated to the communications address of an answering communications device and to some of the associated communications devices and/or addresses. The Simultaneous Ring Called Party Identification signal may include text, video, voice, and/or digital data.
Abstract: A water blast gun support apparatus and methods for enabling the operator to direct the gun by a joystick attached to a pneumatic sinusoidal biasing control unit. Depending upon the direction the joystick is pointed by the operator, a controlled flow of air is delivered to pneumatic motion producing actuators which move the water blast gun to the desired position and maintain this position when the operator moves the joystick to its neutral position. The support apparatus absorbs the thrust of the water so that the operator is relieved from having to physically counter the force of the water.

Abstract: A system for transitioning from a first logical state to any second logical state of a plurality of logical states includes a first circuit. The first circuit is associated with a first clock domain. The first circuit includes a first state machine. The first state machine includes a plurality of logical states. Each of the plurality of logical states is associated with a plurality of physical states. A single state element in one of the plurality of physical states associated with a first logical state is modified to transition from the first logical state to any second logical state.
Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products target specific consumers for a marketing campaign of goods and/or services by: (a) defining a multi-factorial mathematical model of defined parameters; (b) calculating a numerical value using the multi-factorial mathematical model for respective consumers; then (c) ranking the consumers based on the calculated value associated with the model.

Abstract: A method of simulating a telecommunications network may include providing a database including status information for a plurality of virtual network elements. More particularly, the status information for each of the plurality of virtual network elements may include a respective network element identifier. A communication including a received network element identifier may be received. If the received network element identifier does not correspond to a network element identifier included in the database, status information for a new virtual network element may be added to the database and the status information for the new virtual network element may include the received network element identifier. After adding the status information for the new virtual network element, a communication regarding the new virtual network element may be transmitted. Related systems and computer program products are also discussed.
Abstract: An electrical connector set having mating male and female connectors is provided with a first lock preventing separation, the first lock consisting of standard bayonet slot on one member and a mating key on the other member and a secondary locking mechanism consisting of a rotatable spring lock ring affixedly carried by one of the members and is positioned interior a rotatable and axially movable collar carried by the associated member. The spring ring has at least one radially urged spring finger and the collar has at least one opening dimensioned to receive the spring finger. The spring ring includes an increased thickness area in an axial dimension which is engaged against an undersurface configuration of the collar so that as the collar is rotated with respect to the spring ring it will undergo axial movement.
