Patent number: 4456346Abstract: The spectacle hinge comprises two parts (3) and (4) in order to insure pivoting of the arm (1) on the frame (2). An intermediate part (5) is fixed on the part (3) by means of a screw (6) and includes a portion (11) forming a cam for engagement with an elastic element (12) of the part (4). The part (4) is pivoted on the part (5) by a screw 10' passing through a hole (10). By removing the intermediate part (5) a standard hinge can be pivotally connected to part (3) in order to provide a standard hinge, that is one which does not utilize elastic means.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 1981Date of Patent: June 26, 1984Assignee: La Nationale S.A.Inventor: Karl Beyer

Patent number: 4256388Abstract: The invention relates to a bearing screw including a cylindrical shank and a screw threaded end portion in which at least part of the shank has a diameter which is less than the over-all diameter of the threaded end portion and this part of the shank is provided with a sleeve of synthetic resin. The part of the shank which carries the sleeve preferably has a diameter which is substantially equal to the root diameter of the threaded end portion while the maximum diameter of the sleeve is preferably substantially equal to the over-all diameter of the threaded end portion. The invention also relates to a spectacle frame hinge in which a bearing screw having a sleeve of synthetic resin arranged on its shank is used as a hinge pin. In such arrangement the threaded end portion of the screw is screwed into a threaded hole formed in an outer ear of the interfitting ears of the hinge knuckles while the shank of the screw with the sleeve thereon passes through plain holes in the other ears.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1978Date of Patent: March 17, 1981Assignee: La Nationale S.A.Inventor: Karl Beyer

Patent number: 4222148Abstract: A hinge for spectacles includes two parts, the first of which has a cam profile provided by one face of a strip of generally U-shape, the other part comprising a cam follower button of generally rectangular shape. The first part of the hinge is made of a ductile metal whereas the strip providing the cam profile is made of a material having a greater hardness than the first part of the hinge. A spring urges the cam follower button against the cam profile which has a relatively large surface for supporting the face of the button.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 1978Date of Patent: September 16, 1980Assignee: La Nationale S.A.Inventors: Conrad Zellweger, Joseph Biondina

Patent number: 4113422Abstract: A smoker's lighter of flat elongate shape has an inset bottom in one of its narrow ends. In the bottom are two orifices, one with a filling valve and the other equipped for the adjustment or replacement of an element such as a flint. The bottom has a cover pivoted about an off-center axis outside a line joining the two orifices so that the cover can be pulled out and pivoted to give access to the orifices individually. The invention relates to smoker's lighters of the type comprising a reservoir having a bottom into which two orifices open, one for filling the reservoir and the other for the adjustment or replacement of an element of the lighter, this bottom being covered by a rotatable cover carrying a pivot substantially perpendicular to said bottom and about which it can be turned, while remaining parallel to itself, to uncover the two orifices.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1976Date of Patent: September 12, 1978Assignee: La Nationale S.A.Inventor: Andre Guenin

Patent number: 4102633Abstract: A cigarette lighter comprising a body forming a fuel container, a burner, ignition means, and a cap hinged to the body. The body and the cap have the same cross-section. One of the two parts formed by the body and the cap carries a collar into which the other part is engaged in the closed position of the cigarette lighter. The hinge between the body and the cap is inclosed within the space comprised between said two parts.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1976Date of Patent: July 25, 1978Assignee: La Nationale S.A.Inventors: Conrad Zellweger, Andre Guenin

Patent number: 4005930Abstract: A resilient hinge for a pair of spectacles comprises a first part fixed to the spectacle frame and a second part hinged on the first part. The second part is extended by a cylindrical tube on which is slidably mounted a cylindrical sleeve to which an arm is fixed. A transverse pin fixed in the sleeve passes through opposed slots in the tube to angularly fix the sleeve on the tube. A spring in the tube urges a yoke-shaped stud against said pin to bias said tube, relative to said sleeve, towards the free end of the arm. Angular positioning of the tube and sleeve can be provided by cooperating longitudinal ribs.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1975Date of Patent: February 1, 1977Assignee: La Nationale S.A.Inventor: Andre Guenin
