Patent number: 5180377Abstract: An ostomy appliance is disclosed, which includes a front plate or pouch-holder intended to be fixed about an artificial opening in the body of a user by an adhesive pressure sensitive shoe, a belt or similar, as well as a pouch for collecting body fluids and/or waste adapted to be removably assembled with the pouch-holder by a nose of the pouch and which is provided for cooperating with an end-piece fast with the plate and which surrounds the stoma in its condition of use, the assembly of the pouch nose and the end-piece resulting from the clamping effect of a deformable member, further including a control mechanism associated with the pouch-holder and separate from the member, the latter being also associated with the pouch-holder and adapted to cooperate directly with the pouch nose having a shape and being dimensioned such that a sealed mechanical connection of the pouch nose and the end-piece is produced in response to actuation of the mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1990Date of Patent: January 19, 1993Assignee: Laboratoires BiotrolInventor: Henri Holtermann

Patent number: 4929245Abstract: A connection assembly for a drainage appliance, one portion attaching to the body of the patient, the other portion attached to the drainage collection bag. The connection allows the easy removal of the bag yet assures an easily lockable joint including a continuous seal between the two portions when connected together. The two portions fit together and resilient snap-fit elements create an initially sealed relationship. A rotating locking ring on the body portion can be rotated to lock the snap-fit elements in a non-resilient condition and locks the two portions together while still permitting relative rotational motion therebetween. The bag portion can be easily removed when the locking ring is moved to an unlocked position, thereby releasing the snap-fit elements.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1988Date of Patent: May 29, 1990Assignee: Laboratoires BiotrolInventors: Henri Holtermann, Claude Hamelin

Patent number: 4650474Abstract: A device which permits the discharge of urine from cutanenous ureterostomies into the conventional collecting bags, comprising a hollow tube which can optionally divide over a part of its length into two substantially parallel branches a few mm apart, and a flange integral with the tube and adhesive on the face which is directed towards the patient body.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1984Date of Patent: March 17, 1987Assignee: Laboratoires BiotrolInventor: Emile De Backer
-
Patent number: 4503034Abstract: Paste for protecting the skin, fundamentally comprising:at least one hydrocolloid, insolubilized carboxymethylcellulose and/or another superabsorbent product derived from hydrocolloids, and a polyvinylpyrrolidone having a molecular weight of the order of 25,000 to 30,000, as thickeners, demineralized water as a binder, andto fix the latter, a suitable oil and a suitable stearate, and alsocrosslinked and insolubilized polyvinylpyrrolidone, and advantageouslysorbitol and/or polyethylene glycol.Application, in particular, for providing protection against weeping wounds and/or against matter flowing out of stomata from the urinary or digestive tract.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1983Date of Patent: March 5, 1985Assignee: Laboratoires Biotrol S.AInventors: Philippe Maupetit, Bernard Demoulin
