Abstract: Stoma equipment comprising a bag-carrier for fixing around an artificial opening in the body of a user by means of a base plate provided with an adhesive or with a pressure-sensitive adhesive rubber or with any equivalent means, together with a bag for collecting body wastes and/or fluids and suitable for being removably assembled to a sleeve or collar of the bag carrier by means of a rim on the bag, wherein the bag is fixed on the bag-carrier by deforming sealing means whose radial size is increased by operating an appropriate actuator device.

Abstract: An ostomy appliance is disclosed, which includes a front plate or pouch-holder intended to be fixed about an artificial opening in the body of a user by an adhesive pressure sensitive shoe, a belt or similar, as well as a pouch for collecting body fluids and/or waste adapted to be removably assembled with the pouch-holder by a nose of the pouch and which is provided for cooperating with an end-piece fast with the plate and which surrounds the stoma in its condition of use, the assembly of the pouch nose and the end-piece resulting from the clamping effect of a deformable member, further including a control mechanism associated with the pouch-holder and separate from the member, the latter being also associated with the pouch-holder and adapted to cooperate directly with the pouch nose having a shape and being dimensioned such that a sealed mechanical connection of the pouch nose and the end-piece is produced in response to actuation of the mechanism.

Abstract: A connection assembly for a drainage appliance, one portion attaching to the body of the patient, the other portion attached to the drainage collection bag. The connection allows the easy removal of the bag yet assures an easily lockable joint including a continuous seal between the two portions when connected together. The two portions fit together and resilient snap-fit elements create an initially sealed relationship. A rotating locking ring on the body portion can be rotated to lock the snap-fit elements in a non-resilient condition and locks the two portions together while still permitting relative rotational motion therebetween. The bag portion can be easily removed when the locking ring is moved to an unlocked position, thereby releasing the snap-fit elements.

Abstract: An improved ostomy device is provided having two elements one of which is provided to be fixed about an artifical opening in the body of the user by means of a pressure sensitive adhesive means, a belt or any other similar means, and the other of which includes a collecting pocket for collecting body fluids and/or waste intended to be removably coupled to said first element by screwing means formed on two end pieces, a first one of which is fixed to a shoe forming a cutaneous protector of the peristomial zone and about an opening in said shoe, whereas the second is fixed about an opening in the connecting pocket, said first end piece, which may also be fixed about the outlet of one or more probes or similar which is or are fast therewith, as well as said second end piece is provided with means ensuring sealing of the device during fitting together of the two elements by screwing.

Abstract: A device reducing noise resulting from the emission of intestinal gas by persons who have undergone enterostomy.Basically, it comprises an oblong body made of an open-cell porous material and/or optionally provided with an absorbent material, such as activated charcoal, and sheathed in a casing made of a material that does ot adhere to the stoma walls, and the upstream and downstream portions of which each comprises at least one opening suited to allow passage of the intestinal gases emitted, and which can be connected to a collecting bag, or secured to the stoma of persons practising irrigation.Application to improving the comfort and the social rehabilitation of persons who have undergone enterostomy.

Abstract: A device useful for the analysis and measurement of the constituents of solid or liquid media consists of a hermetically closed container containing chemical or biological reactants necessary for the analysis, in liquid, lyophilized or solid form. The container constitutes a hollow space formed in a perforatable material inert with respect to the participants in the reaction. It includes a non-removable rigid cover which is advantageously optically flat at least on its inner surface and optically transparent over at least its central portion. The device and method are applicable to any measurements and analyses, whether manual or automatic, of the constituents of liquid or solid media, notably test samples of biological media.

Abstract: A device for draining and collecting body excretions, particularly for post-operative procedures, comprising a gum-based member adapted to be placed in contact with the skin of the user around the location from which the excretion is to be discharged, the member having a hole enabling the free flow of excretion therethrough, a support on which a bag for collecting excretion is adapted to be secured, the support being of flexible material and having an aperture larger than the hole in the gum-based member, the support also being provided with pre-cut zones concentric with the aperture for enlarging the size of the aperture, the gum-based member being connected to the support by pushing the portion of the member surrounding the hole through the aperture in the support, thereby forming an annular wrap-around pad tightly embracing the edge of the aperture. Preferably the gum-based member is of Karaya gum mixed with a glycerine binder, and the support is a fabric reinforced resin film.
