The composition may be used as a medical device to assist in healing and/or reconstitution of a damaged epidermis and/or to act as an analgesic agent on the skin or the mucous membranes, in particular in the treatment of the symptoms of herpes, pruritus, itching, irritations, eczema, burns, and most particularly in the treatment of labial or genital herpes.

Abstract: The invention relates to a composition formulated for a topical application to the skin containing, as essential constituents, peroxide lipids that have a degree of peroxidation between 30 and 500 milliequivalents per kg of peroxide lipids and cod liver oil. This composition can be used as a medical device, in order to form a protective film on the skin, especially for the care of irritated skin and/or skin that has red spots and/or skin that has superficial lesions, and/or as an adjuvant in skin massaging operations. It is most particularly useful for the care and/or prevention of eschars.

Abstract: The invention relates to an oily pharmaceutical composition based on peroxidized lipids and on silica, characterized in that it contains, as essential constituents, peroxidized lipids which have a degree of peroxidation of between 5 and 600 milli-equivalents per kilogram, and silica which is dispersed within said peroxidized lipids at a concentration of greater than or equal to 0.5% by weight and less than 4% by weight with respect to the weight of said composition. Abstract: A composition for topical application to the skin, contains an active principle with irritant character in a cosmetically or pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle, in which the vehicle contains more than 5% by weight of peroxidized vegetable oil having a peroxidation level of between 5 and 600 milliequivalents per kg. The presence of the peroxidized oil reduces the irritant character of the principle, particularly capsaicin and retinoic acid.

The method involves the therapeutic application of peroxidized lipids or compositions containing peroxidized lipids to an area of skin of a subject with a diabetic condition including a wound, a skin disorder, or with insufficient circulation. The method is effective for promoting the healing of wounds, in particular, in patients having circulatory insufficiencies and/or diabetes.
