Patents Assigned to Land Pyrometers Limited
  • Patent number: 4541292
Abstract: A metal melt sampling device comprises a support tube; and a sampling unit of refractory material mounted in the support tube. The sampling unit includes first and second portions the second portion being integral with the first portion and defining with a pair of metal plates the walls of a main sample cavity. At least one of the first and second portions is a push fit in the support tube. An inlet passage is provided to enable metal melt to pass in use from a leading end of a unit to the main sample cavity.

  • Patent number: 4297577
Abstract: The invention relates to gas monitoring. Hitherto gas, such as flue gas has been analysed either by sampling and analysing the sample or by a spectrometer. However sampling is unreliable, and spectrography involves sensitive and expensive equipment needing extensive protection against vibration. In the invention, gas is monitored in situ by providing an infra red source and an infra red detector spaced across a gas flow, with a filter cell filled with the gas component to be monitored disposed between them. The detector detects radiation direct from the source and passing through the filter cell, and the outputs from the detector are fed to a differencing and dividing circuit to provide an output that is a function of the amount of monitored gas component in the gas flow.

  • Patent number: 4279150
Abstract: Apparatus for determining the vapor content of a gas/vapor mixture comprises two temperature sensing devices. One of the devices measures the temperature of a liquid evaporating from a liquid saturated wick in contact with the device. The other temperature sensing device measures the temperature of the gas/vapor mixture in which it is immersed. A cooling device is provided for condensing some of the vapor from the gas/vapor mixture to maintain a liquid supply for the wick.

  • Patent number: 4155245
Abstract: A dewpointmeter comprises a detecting element or probe, a thermocouple adapted to determine the temperature of the probe, means for directing a flow of cooling air at the probe, and an electrical circuit extending to the probe and adapted to be completed by condensate formed on the probe, there being a motor driven regulator adapted to control the rate of flow of cooling air directed at the probe, which motor is adapted to be driven in accordance with the current flowing through the circuit.

  • Patent number: 3988104
Abstract: The invention is concerned with a burner monitor comprising a variator which is arranged to cause a predetermined fluctuation of the flow of a reactant to a burner to cause flickering of the burner flame. A detector for radiation from the flame from the burner emits a signal corresponding to the radiation. A comparator assesses the polarity of any correlation between the applied fluctuations and the signal from the detector and an indicator indicates the assessed polarity. The output from the indicator may be integrated to produce a quantitative assessment of the fuel rich or fuel lean flame condition.
