Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a vehicle privacy system (700), comprising audio input means (130, 190, 720) for receiving an external audio signal (725) indicative of audio from within a vehicle (900), audio source means (710, 910) for receiving the external audio signal (725) and determining an output audio signal (735) based thereon for reducing an external intelligibility of speech within the vehicle (900), and audio output means (145, 146, 147, 730, 920) for receiving the output audio signal (735) and outputting audio (925) corresponding thereto to be at least partly audible external to the vehicle (900).
Abstract: A controller for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) comprising an image capture means, the controller comprising: inputs arranged to receive: positional data relating to the UAV, a vehicle and a user device; image data captured by the image capture means; a processor arranged to process the received positional data to determine the relative locations of the UAV, vehicle and user device; an output arranged to output a control signal for controlling the UAV and to output an image signal comprising captured image data; wherein the processor is arranged to: generate the control signal for the UAV such that the image data captured by the image capture means comprises at least an image of an obscured portion of the vehicle that is obscured from a field of view of a user of the user device.
Abstract: A method of determining the configuration of a tow load (12) coupleable to a vehicle (10), the method comprising: controlling (116) a vehicle system to obtain an indication of the presence of a unique identifier (40) mounted on the tow load (12); retrieving data (120) encoded within the unique identifier to determine the configuration of the tow load; configuring (124) the vehicle in dependence on the determined configuration of the tow load.
Abstract: A control system (100) for an emergency braking system (200) using at least one transmitter/receiver sensor (210) comprising: means for causing automatic transition, from a first state (310) in which the emergency braking system (200) is inactive to a second state (320) in which the emergency braking system (200) is active, in dependence upon satisfaction of a first condition (412); and means for causing automatic transition from the second state (320) to the first state (310) in dependence upon satisfaction of a second condition (421) different to the first condition (412) wherein transition from the second state (320) to the first state (310) does not occur in dependence upon the first condition (412) no longer being satisfied, and/or transition from the first state (320) to the second state (310) does not occur in dependence upon the second condition (421) no longer being satisfied.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for determining whether to inhibit lowering of the ride height of a vehicle when the vehicle speed exceeds a speed threshold value. The system includes a processor having an input configured to receive ride attribute data from at least one on-board vehicle ride attribute sensor, the ride attribute data being indicative of the roughness of the surface over which the vehicle is travelling, and a data memory configured to store at least one predetermined ride attribute threshold value for the or each ride attribute sensor. The processor is configured to calculate a ride attribute parameter in dependence on the received ride attribute data for the or each ride attribute sensor.

Abstract: A wastegate valve for a bypass path for a turbocharger in an internal combustion engine, the wastegate valve comprises a valve seat defining a plane which is non-orthogonal to the principal flow axis for gases flowing along the bypass path and a valve member pivotable from an open position to a closed position, wherein in the closed position the valve member is seated on the valve seat, and in a fully open position the valve member is positioned to direct gases exiting the bypass path onto a leading face of a catalytic converter monolith for heating the monolith.
Abstract: A speed control system (12) for a vehicle (100), the speed control system (12) being configured to: automatically cause application of positive and negative torque, as required, to one or more wheels of a vehicle (100) to cause a vehicle to travel in accordance with a target speed value, the target speed value being stored in a memory of the control system (12); and detect a crest of a slope ahead of the vehicle (100); wherein the speed control system (12) is configured automatically to attempt to adjust a speed of the vehicle (100) to cause the vehicle (100) to travel at a predetermined crest speed value when a crest of a slope is detected ahead of the vehicle (100), the predetermined crest speed value being determined in dependence at least in part on terrain gradient information respect of terrain prior to the crest.
