Abstract: A head portion of a terminal is formed substantially as an L-shaped member which has a substantially horizontal section, a slantingly and upwardly extending section and a distal end portion for contacting with a pin of an IC chip. The body portion is provided with an engaging units for mounting onto a base body. The width in a transverse direction of the head portion of a terminal is smaller than that of the body portion thereof. The configuration of a terminal-receiving hole in a base body of a socket assembly is shaped such that the head portion of the terminal can pass and can engage receivingly the engaging units from the bottom surface of the base body.
