Abstract: A security paper, having a first paper ply and a second paper ply, and a plastic ply made of a thermoplastic polymer material arranged between the paper layers (1, 2), wherein a strip-shaped tear-off film is embedded between the paper layers on the inner side of the second paper layer and at least partially embedded into the plastic layer. Hidden information is arranged on the inner side of the first paper ply and is covered by the strip-shaped tear-off film or is arranged on the surface of the strip-shaped tear-off film facing the first paper ply. The hidden information can be exposed by the strip-shaped tear-off film together with a strip of the second paper ply being irreversibly torn off the multi-layer substrate.

  • Publication number: 20060198987
Abstract: The invention relates to a multiple layer laminate such as a printing carrier, especially in the form of antifalsification paper such as bank notes. Said multiple layer laminate or more precisely the printing carrier comprises at least one plastic layer (22) having an upper side (20) and a lower side (21), an upper paper layer (11) which is connected to the upper side (20) of the plastic layer (22), and optionally a lower paper layer (12) which is connected to the lower side (21) of the plastic layer (22). The aim of the invention is to achieve an especially intimate connection between the individual layers, with simultaneously good printability and with similar haptic characteristics such as those of pure paper carriers.

  • Publication number: 20050213078
Abstract: The invention relates to a device (20) and a method for making visible security elements present in an object (4) and comprising at least one photoluminescent segment which is characterized by linearly polarized photoluminescence and/or linearly polarized absorption. According to the invention, a good contrast is achieved with few interfering signals, by arranging at least one light source (1) and at least one polarization filter (2) in such a way that the light (24) from the light source (1) is linearly polarized (23) by means of the polarization filter (2) and hits the object (4) or the photoluminescent segments in said object, and photoluminescent light (25) from the segments can be observed through another and/or the same polarization filter (2).

  • Publication number: 20050211914
Abstract: The invention relates to a device (20) for making security elements visible, which are provided in an object (8) and have at least one photoluminescent segment that is characterized by having a linearly polarized absorption. The aim of the invention is to obtain a device of this type that has a particularly simple and compact design. To this end, at least one UV light source, which is provided in the form of a UV diode (18), and at least one polarization filter (4) are arranged so that the light of the light source (18) is linearly polarized (12) by the polarization filter (4) and, in a dark space (17), strikes the object (8) with respect to the photoluminescent segments provided therein, and photoluminescent light (16) in the visible range emitted by the segment can be observed through an observation opening (10).

  • Patent number: 6594062
Abstract: PL polarizers are disclosed which are characterized in a low degree of polarization in their absorption and a high degree of polarization in their emission. The invention also discloses methods to produce such PL polarizers. Also, the invention discloses display devices of high brightness and contrast which comprise at least one photoluminescent polarizer which is characterized in a low degree of polarization in their absorption and a high degree of polarization in their emission.
