Abstract: An absorbent pad such as an incontinence pad comprises a liquid-impervious back sheet with spaced islands of absorbent material thereon. A liquid-pervious cover sheet has pockets formed therein, in which the islands of absorbent material are disposed. The cover sheet is secured, either adhesively or by heat sealing, directly to the impervious sheet along lines that separate the islands of absorbent material and the pockets that contain them. The pad is formed by applying a strip of cover sheet material to a rotating multi-perforate drum and forming the pockets in the cover sheet material either mechanically, or by drawing hot air inwardly through the holes in the drum in the case of a heat-deformable material such as polypropylene fibers. The drum then rotates past a pocket-filling station, where absorbent material such as cellulose fluff is drawn into the pockets by vacuum applied internally of the drum.

Abstract: A child delivery bed includes a raisable backrest section which is located at one end of a center section, and further includes a leg support section that can be displaced axially beneath the center section. The center section has provided on the edge part thereof facing the leg support section a sunken recess which is open towards the leg support section, therewith to enable blood and other substances to run down to the underlying leg support section. The leg support section has formed thereon a longitudinally extending channel, the width extension of which is at least equal to the width of the open end of the sunken recess and which slopes down towards the outer end portion of the leg support section, at which end portion the bottom of the channel terminates at a drainage edge. Detachably arranged beneath the drainage edge is a collecting vessel for collecting blood and other substances running down from the drainage edge.

Abstract: Surgical operating room lamp comprising a lamp housing (10) and at least three reflectors (24, 26, 28) with bulbs or similar lamps provided in the housing and equally spaced around the center optical axis of the lamp housing. According to the invention all reflectors are carried by a flexible diaphragm member (16) which rests at its edge against an abutment shoulder (14) in the housing. The center of the diaphragm member is axially movable by means of a control member (18, 20, 22) to be flexed so as to adjust the angular position of the reflectors simultaneously.

Abstract: A folded protective garment is enclosed in a wrapping maintaining sterility. The folded garment has its entry opening at one edge of the package formed by the folded garment. The entry opening is surrounded by a collar obtained by turning the edge portion of the garment inside out so that the outside of the collar is formed by the inside of the garment. For the remainder, the garment is folded such that the outside of the collar has uncovered surfaces which can be gripped by unprotected hands when the garment is folded out and put on, the garment also having front and back portions which are alike and joined together at the edges.

A leg-support has side tubes which are journalled for axial movement on forwardly and rearwardly located pairs of support rollers journalled on bolts attached to the side-pieces. Mounted on the side-pieces are guide bars which present along the bottom edge surfaces thereof a plurality of circle-segmental latching recesses intended to co-act with circular latching flanges on the rearwardly located support rollers in selected latching positions. The position of the leg-support is adjusted by lifting the support and axially moving the same to a desired latching position.

Abstract: A protector against incontinence comprises an oblong absorbent body which is fixed to a bottom liquid-tight layer extending outside the absorbent body. The lateral edge portions of the layer are folded in over the absorbent body and form side flaps, the distance between the edges thereof being less than the width of the absorbent body at its mid section. The side flaps are fixed at their ends to the bottom layer. An elastic line, arranged at the edge of each side flap, tends to contract itself and thereby the edges of the side flaps. When the protector is put on, the edges of the side flaps come into elastic sealing contact in the thigh creases of the crotch.

Abstract: An incontinence guard for male use comprises a sheath with an insertion opening along one edge and edge portions beside the opening are disposed such that, when the guard is in place, the edge portions are directed obliquely upwards one on each side of the penis root to grip the sides of the penis and improve retention of the guard in position.

Abstract: An obstetrical table has on each side a leg supporting device, each including a foot rest and a thigh support which are adjustable individually and lockable in any desired position relative to a vertical bushing which is rotatably mounted in a bracket fastened to the side of the frame of the table. The foot rest and thigh support connected to the bushing may then be swung about a vertical axis as a unit for further adjustments.

The middle section is pivotable about a longitudinal central axis with the aid of a control means into different desired angular positions. The outer side edges of the side sections are carried by the upper ends of links distributed along the length of the side sections and pivotably mounted at their lower ends on the bed frame.

Abstract: A vein catheter bandage with hose, tubular coupling member, laterally directed wings, stop cock on the coupling member or plug, and plug holder on one wing. An oblong, suitably air-permeable and liquid-tight protective sheet has a sticky layer on one side and thereon a liquid-absorbing layer which is substantially smaller than half of the protective sheet and is located entirely within one half of the protective sheet when this is divided transversely and at a distance from the edges of the protective sheet. On top of said layers there are two protective pull sheets. A slit is arranged through the protective sheet, the sticky layer and one of the pull sheets from the end of the bandage farthest from the absorbent layer and up to a short distance from the absorbent layer.

Abstract: A prosthetic lower leg or prosthesis comprising two plates mutually connected downwardly and to a prosthetic foot, while upwards they are enlarged into circular coacting sleeve halves, together forming an adjustable carrying sleeve. By means of an annular tensioning device the sleeve can be tightened round the leg stump which can be fixed laterally in the prosthesis by special tension straps between the plates, as well as longitudinally relative to the prosthesis by means of a strap which is attached to the carrying sleeve and tightenably laid round the leg stump in a loop. The weight on the leg stump is substantially transferred to the prosthesis via bands attached to the outside of a stocking on the stump and extend up over the edge of the carrying sleeve and from there down on the outside of the sleeve where the free ends of the bands are anchored.
