  • Patent number: 4490148
Abstract: A protector against incontinence comprises an oblong absorbent body which is fixed to a bottom liquid-tight layer extending outside the absorbent body. The lateral edge portions of the layer are folded in over the absorbent body and form side flaps, the distance between the edges thereof being less than the width of the absorbent body at its mid section. The side flaps are fixed at their ends to the bottom layer. An elastic line, arranged at the edge of each side flap, tends to contract itself and thereby the edges of the side flaps. When the protector is put on, the edges of the side flaps come into elastic sealing contact in the thigh creases of the crotch.

  • Patent number: 4445506
Abstract: The present invention briefly refers to a bone aligning apparatus comprising a stand (1, 4, 7) forming a stretching bow in which a limb, preferably a fore arm, is insertable in order to be exposed to a repositioning pulling force. A rope (11) extends between a pulling force producing device (10) and a repositioning disc (15) having means (16) for holding the extreme portions of the limb such as fingers and toes in a physiologically correct position. A holding cuff (14) is adapted to retain the inner portion of the limb such as the upper arm or thigh, such cuff being attached to a portion (7) of the stand by means of a spring (13). A pulling force meter (18) is provided to establish the pulling force.

  • Patent number: 4290424
Abstract: The present invention relates to a plaster cast cutting wire (1) permitting the simple removal of a plaster cast or dressing. The plaster cast cutting wire comprises an anchoring plate (2) from which two substantially equally long cutting wire ends (3) extend. The cutting wire is positioned against the limb or body portion to be dressed and the plaster-of-Paris bandage is wound around both the body portion and the plaster cutting wire, in a way causing the plate (2) to become embedded in the cast. In order to facilitate removal of the plaster cast or dressing at least two plaster cutting wires will normally be used, thereby providing for division of the plaster cast into at least two parts upon removal. If the plaster cast or dressing is to be applied over a joint, the plates (2) are positioned opposite the joint on the outer and inner sides thereof.

  • Patent number: 4282986
Abstract: A method of dispensing fluid or semi-fluid liquids or pastes in which the liquid or paste is contained in a container having a top flexible dome and a bottom dome connected at their open ends to each other. The method comprises pressing the top dome downwardly toward the bottom dome and forcing the top dome into the bottom dome and discharging the liquid or paste from the bottom dome under the action of the forcing of the top dome into the bottom dome. The top dome can be formed with an internal annular bead which is displaced along the inner walls of the bottom dome to scrape off material stuck to the inside walls of the bottom dome.

  • Patent number: 4275721
Abstract: A vein catheter bandage with hose, tubular coupling member, laterally directed wings, stop cock on the coupling member or plug, and plug holder on one wing. An oblong, suitably air-permeable and liquid-tight protective sheet has a sticky layer on one side and thereon a liquid-absorbing layer which is substantially smaller than half of the protective sheet and is located entirely within one half of the protective sheet when this is divided transversely and at a distance from the edges of the protective sheet. On top of said layers there are two protective pull sheets. A slit is arranged through the protective sheet, the sticky layer and one of the pull sheets from the end of the bandage farthest from the absorbent layer and up to a short distance from the absorbent layer.

  • Patent number: 4268922
Abstract: A prosthetic lower leg or prosthesis comprising two plates mutually connected downwardly and to a prosthetic foot, while upwards they are enlarged into circular coacting sleeve halves, together forming an adjustable carrying sleeve. By means of an annular tensioning device the sleeve can be tightened round the leg stump which can be fixed laterally in the prosthesis by special tension straps between the plates, as well as longitudinally relative to the prosthesis by means of a strap which is attached to the carrying sleeve and tightenably laid round the leg stump in a loop. The weight on the leg stump is substantially transferred to the prosthesis via bands attached to the outside of a stocking on the stump and extend up over the edge of the carrying sleeve and from there down on the outside of the sleeve where the free ends of the bands are anchored.

  • Patent number: 4236694
Abstract: A winch operated by a manual crank and handle for reeling-up or out a belt or rope and including a holding catch for preventing reeling-out when the handle is not actuated. A friction coupling mechanism is momentarily released when the handle is moved in the reeling-out direction, resulting in that the load is moved downwardly and actuates a screw mechanism which momentarily locks the coupling if the handle is stopped. Reeling-out is thus effected by releasing and locking actions following each other at very small intervals, the reeling-out movement being practically synchronous with the movement of the handle until it is stopped.

  • Patent number: 4131217
Abstract: A device for emptying a container of the type comprising two domed parts of different stiffnesses sealed along a joint and having an outwardly directed flange adjacent the joint. A holder for the container has an opening and a member defining a gap to position and receive most of the container flange. The opening and the gap defining member are so arranged that when the flange is inserted in the gap, the outlet of the container is located substantially in line with the holder opening. An emptying member is provided opposite the holder opening and is manually displaceable in the direction thereof for emptying the container. In one embodiment, the holder is the cylinder of a piston and cylinder arrangement, the piston of which forms the emptying member while in another embodiment, the holder is in the form of an annular structure, one part of the wall of which has enhanced flexibility so as to form the emptying member.

  • Patent number: 4128903
Abstract: A prosthesis for an amputated lower leg consisting of an upper part attachable to the remaining lower leg stump, this upper part being attached to an under part provided with an artificial foot. The upper part has a cup-shaped bottom portion which at a number of places along its circumference merges into upwardly directed flexible strips of such lengths that when the leg stump is placed between them they extend up along the leg stump and thigh, the bottom portion and strips forming a holder fitting, with an approximately predetermined and relatively large play, around the bandaged leg stump itself so that this play can be filled with a supporting structure around the leg stump.

  • Patent number: 4084265
Abstract: A protective glove consists of two plastic films such as polyethylene welded at the periphery of the glove, whereat at least one of the films has protuberances on one side. At least one film having a thickness in the region of 0.01 to 1.0 mm is made with commonly separated impressions on one side for providing corresponding protuberances on its other side. Said protuberances are substantially evenly distributed over the entire surface of the film and lie at such a small distance from each other, preferably in the region of 0.5 to 2 mm, that the adhesion between the films is at least partially inhibited to facilitate the introduction of a hand into the glove.

  • Patent number: 4072249
Abstract: A container for dispensing fluid and semifluid liquids and pastes, such as for medicinal use, is provided with a top flexible dome and a bottom dome which may or may not be flexible. The contents which are stored in the space between the two domes is squeezed outwardly through a spout on the bottom dome by pressing and forcing the top dome into the bottom dome. The container may be combined with other containers which are connected along flanges of each container, which flanges are used to grip the container by fingers so that when the top dome is pressed downwardly by a thumb the fingers may aid in the process. The plurality of containers connected along the flanges form a block which may be combined with other blocks for easy transport.
