Abstract: The structural carrier assembly is installed in a motor vehicle front or rear end. The structural carrier assembly includes one or more support brackets connected to one or more frame rails of a motor vehicle body. The structural carrier assembly further includes a carrier member having laterally positioned attachment clips. The attachment clips connect the carrier member to the support brackets. The carrier member includes one or more attachment mounts or locations for supporting accessories, such as engine accessories, of the motor vehicle. A cross frame is mounted to an upper end of the carrier member by welds or mechanical attachments. The attachment clips each include an integral fulcrum cup and locking tab typically formed on the lateral sides of the carrier member. The locking tabs engage mating openings formed in the support brackets to connect the carrier member to the frame rails.
Abstract: A clear and ductile thermoplastic molding composition containing (i) a styrene copolymer and (ii) a rubber component is disclosed. The styrene copolymer is represented by styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer and the rubber component is a styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) block copolymer. Characterized by its low haze, high light transmission, good processability and mechanical properties the composition is suitable for making a variety of useful articles.
Abstract: A glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic molding composition suitable for the preparation of articles having good surface properties is disclosed. The composition contains a resinous blend and a filler component. The resinous blend contains (i) 20 to 50 wt. % of a grafted acrylate rubber, (ii) 2 to 10 wt. % of a first copolymer containing structural units derived from styrene (meth)acrylonitrile and maleic anhydride, (iii) 20 to 80 wt. % polyamide, and (iv) 0 to 40 wt. % of a second copolymer containing structural units derived from styrene and (meth)acrylonitrile, the percents being relative to the total amount of (i), (ii), (iii) and (iv). The filler component of the inventive composition contains 1 to 29 percent of milled glass fibers, in combination with 1 to 29 percent of chopped glass fibers, the percent being relative to the weight of the molding composition. Optionally, the inventive composition also contains a positive amount of a wollastonite.

Abstract: The air intake manifold assembly includes a manifold with a plurality of air intake ports for fluid communication with a plurality of engine cylinders, respectively, and a composite flange assembly associated with the air intake ports. The composite flange assembly is adapted to connect the air intake ports with the engine cylinders. The composite flange assembly includes a polymeric flange and a metal reinforcement member joined to the polymeric flange. The metal reinforcement member defines one or more openings and the polymeric flange is joined with the metal reinforcement member, such that at least a portion of the polymeric flange extends through the openings and forms one or more annular surfaces for contacting the engine cylinders. The metal reinforcement member may be integrally molded with the polymeric flange, or joined to the polymeric flange by interference engagement therewith. The polymeric flange may partially encapsulate the metal reinforcement member.
Abstract: A tubular assembly that includes a plug (45) residing within at least a portion of each of a first tube (12) and a second tube (30), is described. Each of the first and second tubes have perforations (21 and 39) that are separately aligned with cavities (51) in the exterior surface (48) of the plug (45). Plastic material (54) is molded separately through the perforations (21 and 39) of the first and second tubes (12 and 30) and at least partially fills the cavities (51) of the plug (45). The edges (24) of the perforations (21) of the first tube (12), and the edges (42) of the perforations (39) of the second tube (30) are embedded in the plastic material (54) extending therethrough, thereby fixedly attaching the first and second tubes to the plug therein.
Abstract: A low gloss thermoplastic molding composition comprising a grafted acrylate rubber (ASA) and a process for its preparation are disclosed. The composition contains an effective amount of a gloss-reducing agent that is the reaction product of (i) compound having two or more maleic anhydride groups per molecule and (ii) compound having two or more terminal primary amine groups per molecule. The incorporation of the gloss reducing agent in the inventive composition may be by blending the reaction product or, in the alternative, blending the reactants (i) and (ii) in the molten ASA under process conditions designed to bring about the in situ formation of the inventive gloss reducing agent.
Abstract: The invention relates to a functional promoter comprising a water-soluble anionic polymer having a molecular weight of at least about 50,000 daltons and a molecular weight charge index value of at least about 10,000, and a cationic strength component. The invention also relates to a paper product made with such a system, and method for imparting wet strength to a paper product with the functional promoter.

Abstract: A load bearing article (1) is described and includes a plurality of elongated shells (20) having a plurality of internal reinforcing ribs (50) fixedly attached within the hollow interior (35) of each shell (20), the shells (20) reside substantially within a common plane and are fixedly attached together by means of an external molded plastic structure (53). Each elongated shell (20) has a plurality perforations (e.g., perforations 38, 41, 44 and 45) having edges. A portion of the plastic material of the internal reinforcing ribs (50) and the external molded structure (53) extends through at least some of the perforations in each shell (20), and the edges of the perforations are embedded in the plastic material extending therethrough, thereby fixedly attaching the internal reinforcing ribs (50) within and the external molded structure (53) to each shell (20). The load bearing surface (87) of the load bearing article (1) comprises (or is defined by at least) the external molded structure (53) (e.g.
