Abstract: An electrostatic precipitation air cleaner to reduce ozone output is provided. The electrostatic precipitation air cleaner includes a housing with an air inlet and outlet. Located in the housing are an air mover for moving a stream of air along an airflow path between the inlet and the outlet, an ion emitter electrode positioned in the airflow path downstream of the inlet for ionizing particulates entrained in the stream of air, a collector electrode having an inlet downstream of the ion emitter electrode, and an intermediate element intermediate the ion emitter electrode and the collector electrode. The collector electrode is comprised of a plurality of collector plates spaced apart in a direction transverse to the airflow path. The plates are electrically biased to create and maintain an electric field in the space therebetween to precipitate ionized particulates entrained in the stream of air onto a confronting surfaces of the plates.

Abstract: A multi-piece stator includes a pole cluster, a flux ring, and an insulation member. A rotor cavity is located at a center of the pole cluster, and multiple flux poles extend radially outward from the rotor cavity in a circumferential arrangement. The pole cluster includes a flux impedance feature between each of the multiple flux poles, and multiple bridge features maintaining the arrangement of the flux poles. The flux ring includes a ring wall having a minimum wall thickness and a pole cluster cavity defined by the ring wall. The insulation member has a shape corresponding substantially to a shape of the pole cluster and is located to effectively cover an outside surface of the flux poles. The pole cluster, the insulation member, and a field generation coil wrapped around a portion of the insulation member and a portion of the pole cluster are inserted into the pole cluster cavity.
Abstract: A portable air movement apparatus with improved air blending is provided, having a housing, an air generator, an air outlet, and an ambient air passageway through the housing of the device. The impeller and other components, such as the heating element, are disassociated from the location of the air outlet, allowing for the ability to use more than one air outlet, which serves to spread the air stream over a greater area. The disassociation of the impeller and other components from the air outlet also minimizes the housing size required near the air outlet, thereby allowing ambient air to be entrained in the air flow produced by the apparatus. As such, the apparatus moves more room air through the apparatus and more rapidly blends the air into the entire area or room.
