Abstract: The present invention relates to emulsions comprising a (1?3)-?-D-glucan, a cationic emulsifier and a bituminous binder having a low penetration. The emulsion is storage stable while fast breaking, even under unfavorable environmental conditions such as high humidity and low temperature. The emulsions can conveniently be used in chip less surface dressings, trackless tack coating compositions, water-proofing compositions, flooring applications, bonding layers, impregnation layers, dense coated materials and semi-dense coated materials which are cold-cast or storable, slurry seals, micro-surfacing compositions and mortars.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of a (1?3)-?-D-glucan as an emulsion stabilizer. The present invention further relates to emulsions comprising a (1?3)-?-D-glucan in an amount of 0.01 to 10 wt. %, based on the total weight of the emulsion. The present invention also relates to bitumen binder compositions comprising a (1?3)-?-D-glucan in an amount of 0.005 to less than 0.1 wt. %, based on the total weight of the bitumen binder composition. The present invention further relates to emulsions comprising a novel biodegradable emulsifying agent, in particular in combination with a (1?3)-?-D-glucan.

Abstract: The invention relates to a bituminous binder composition comprising: (a) 60-99.75 wt. % bitumen; (b) 0.05-5.0 wt. % of an elastomer; (c) 0.1-30.0 wt. % of a mono-alkyl ester of a vegetate e oil or an animal oil; and (d) 0.1-5.0 of an amide additive; based on the total weight of the bituminous binder composition, and a process for preparing the bituminous binder composition. The inventions further relates to the use of the bituminous binder composition in surface dressing, in particular road construction, road renovation, joint filling and sealing purposes.
