  • Patent number: 9556603
Abstract: A waxless modular seal prevents leaks in the connection between the base of a toilet and the drain pipe. The waxless modular seal comprises a rubber portion and a resiliently compressible toroid-shaped foam ring, both of which are, in combination, designed to replace a traditional wax seal. The waxless modular seal captures the foam ring between an upper sealing ring and a lower sealing ring. Each sealing ring and the foam ring comprises a protrusion and at least one vertically disposed aperture, the apertures being sized sufficiently so as to allow a fastener to pass through the apertures. The foam ring may comprise a plurality of foam rings.

  • Patent number: 9074691
Abstract: A fluid flow control adjuster device controls fluid flow ratios when placed in-line with a tube that runs from a toilet fill valve to the overflow tube of a flush valve. The device comprises an adjuster having an adjuster body with an inlet and an outlet. The body includes an adjuster knob and a receiver gap, which is a gap between a body rotation stop and another edge at a top surface of the adjuster knob. A key is also provided which can be inserted between the body rotation stop and the edge of the adjuster so that the installer can dial in the correct percentage of fill. The key is a hub-like planar structure that matches the curvature of the receiver and includes a plurality of key fingers with each finger including indicia that correlate to settings for selecting a proper toilet bowl refill range.

  • Patent number: 9062795
Abstract: An improved fill valve has a pivot valve body that is pivotally suspended immediately below a float housing and is movable between two positions. In a first position, the pivot valve body blocks the flow of water from the float housing. In a second position, the pivot body allows the flow of water from the float housing. The pivot valve body has two top compartments, each separated from the other by a wall. The first compartment retains an amount of water in it. The second compartment functions as a water flow restriction apparatus and includes an upwardly-extending member for sealing off a check valve that is disposed within the bottom of the float housing. A pressure compensating drip emitter allows water to trickle into the float housing at a very slow rate. The emitter comprises a labyrinth structure having a plurality of serpentine pathways formed in its outer surface.

  • Publication number: 20140059756
Abstract: An improved flapper valve has an elastomeric surrounding flapper valve top. A separate inverted dome-like structure, or cone, which is the ballast, is included for insertion into the flapper valve top. The improved flapper valve further includes a ring-like upper structure and a cap-like bottom structure. The ring-like upper “vent band” structure rotates about the cone relative to an air outlet aperture defined in the cone to control air flow from the cone. The bottom cap-like “adjuster” structure also rotates about the bottom of the cone to control water flow into the cone, also via apertures in both structures. Used together, the upper and bottom structures can minimize water consumption by the toilet. Further, the adjuster structure includes means for discretely changing settings with indicia to indicate to the user what the current setting is and means for maintaining that setting as may be desired or required.

  • Patent number: 8590066
Abstract: An offset outlet flush valve has a valve body, the valve body having an inlet comprising an inlet aperture, an overflow tube socket comprising an overflow tube aperture, and an outlet comprising an outlet aperture. The outlet aperture of the valve body, and the wall that defines it, intersects a portion of the inlet aperture and a portion of the overflow tube aperture and the walls that define them. In this way, a water flow continuum is created between the inlet aperture and the outlet aperture and between the overflow tube aperture and the outlet aperture. A number of alternative embodiments of an overflow tube socket and overflow tube are also provided depending upon OEM or after-market application of the offset outlet flush valve.

  • Publication number: 20130125298
Abstract: A plunger of the present invention is a generally hollow structure having a number of integrally-formed sections disposed between the top and the bottom. The plunger has a conical upper portion having an increasing diameter moving downwardly from the top of the plunger toward a central portion. There is a pleated bellows section at the central portion of the plunger. Extending downwardly from the central portion is a lower conical portion having a decreasing diameter moving from the central portion toward the bottom. The top includes an opening for a handle and the bottom comprises an opening to the interior cavity of the plunger. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the plunger is formed of a resilient rubber-like material that is capable of being deformed and then returning to an un-deformed shape, the material having memory. The plunger can be used in standard or specially-configured toilet bowl outlets.

  • Patent number: 6880181
Abstract: A pair of lever arms each have an intermediate segment configured for pivotal mounting on a pair of pins that support a corresponding end of a pair of mounting arms of a flapper valve. Each of the lever arms has a forward end configured to engage and provide a lifting force on a corresponding one of the flapper valve mounting arms when the lever arm and the flapper valve mounting arm are rotated in a first direction during opening of the flapper valve upon manual actuation of a flush control lever or button. A counterweight reservoir is connected to a pair of rearward ends of the lever arms for holding a volume of water and delays rotation of the flapper valve in a reverse direction to seal the flush valve until a volume of water has drained through an outlet aperture in a bottom portion of the counterweight reservoir.

  • Patent number: 6192526
Abstract: A top mounted flush valve is provided for installation in a blind drain hole in the bottom wall of a toilet tank of a conventional one-piece gravity operated toilet. The flush valve includes a generally cylindrical valve body sized for insertion through the drain hole from the upperside of the bottom wall of the tank. A seal member on an underside of the valve body provides a watertight seal between the valve body and an upperside of the bottom wall of the tank. A generally cylindrical drive collar is rotatable within a central aperture of the valve body. A generally cylindrical spring nut has a threaded portion engaged with a threaded portion of the drive collar so that the drive collar can be screwed to generate relative movement between the drive collar and the spring nut along a longitudinal axis substantially perpendicular to the bottom wall of the tank.

  • Patent number: 5123237
Abstract: A blade guide for supporting a reciprocating sickle blade in an agricultural mower. The blade guide includes a unitary, integrally formed structure formed of a resilient, molded thermoplastic material. To avoid wear, metallic wear plates are provided where the reciprocating sickle blade contacts the blade guide. The side edges of the wear plates cooperate with the reciprocating sickle blades to provide a cutting action as the sickle blades reciprocate. In one embodiment, the side edges of the wear plate are beveled to improve the cutting action. Preferably, the wear plates are molded in place during manufacture.
