Abstract: A special seed spreading machine, lawn care apparatus and process are provided to transport, meter, and disperse different types of grass seeds evenly and uniformly over a lawn, turf, or soil. Advantageously, the novel seed spreading machine, lawn care apparatus and process can accurately control, mix, meter, and spread different amounts (proportions) of various types of grass seeds and/or other materials, and can dispense different types of grass seed in separate bins simultaneously at different speeds and flow rates. The seed spreading machine and lawn care apparatus preferably comprise of a ground driven disc, dual hopper assembly with double friction wheels which drives tumblers in the hopper assembly through a chain and sprocket arrangement.
Abstract: A special cultivating machine, lawn care apparatus and process are provided to properly prepare, efficiently condition, and gently cultivate the soil, turf and lawn in a uniform manner without uprooting, ruining, or damaging existing healthy plants and grass and without substantial thatching. The special cultivating machine, lawn care apparatus and process attain excellent seed and soil contact for virtually all soil compositions, textures, and conditions, and accurately follow the contour of the ground soil, turf, or lawn, regardless of mounds, hills, valleys, irregularities, clumps, and other soil conditions. The cultivating machine and lawn care apparatus has spring biased, rearwardly facing, scratching arms (cultivation fingers) which are reciprocatingly driven by a crankshaft. The crankshaft is smoothly rotated by a chain and sprocket arrangement. Desirably, the crankshaft and scratching arms can be raised or lowered by a height adjustment assembly to vary the depth and angle of soil penetration.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for treating lawns with both granular and liquid treatment materials, at the selection of the operator. The apparatus includes a compact, hand-operated cart having a storage compartment for accommodating a bin or bins of granular treatment materials and a tank of liquid treatment material. A rotatable spreader belt receives and meters the granular material which is spread by a rotatable spinner plate as the cart is driven. Inlet and outlet hoses received within the tank of liquid material cooperate with a pumping disc rotatably mounted on the cart to provide continuous circulation of the liquid material through the hoses. A spray nozzle coupled to the inlet hose by a valve controlled by the operator, enables the operator to selectively spray the liquid material on a surface to be treated. The spray nozzle is mounted in telescoping relationship to the cart to enable the operator to select and adjust the range which the liquid is sprayed.
Abstract: A lawn treating spreader cart is provided capable of carrying, measuring, mixing, and spreading multiple lawn treatment materials while, at the same time, being compact enough for hand operation. This is accomplished by positioning bins of various treatment materials transversely across the width of the chassis. The bins have proximate, transversely positioned outlets for depositing measuring quantities of treatment material upon a forwardly moving belt, these being spread over a wide area by an adjustable rotor. Means are provided for adjusting the width of the area to be treated and for temporarily stopping the spread while the cart is being moved.
