  • Patent number: 5781977
Abstract: An tool for installation of a ball joint into an interference-fit accommodating hole in a control arm of a vehicle is provided, which operates as an integrated unit. A body of the ball joint compressor includes an upper and a lower support, spaced apart and fixedly interconnected by a pair of bilateral supports. A movable compression member is mounted to the body of the ball joint compressor, to allow movement thereof between the upper and lower supports along a central vertical axis. An advancing screw is threaded through the lower support, providing a means by which movement may be imparted to the movable compression member. The upper support includes an upper stop extending downwardly and including a cavity for receiving a portion of a ball joint which protrudes through an accommodating hole in a control arm during compression. This configuration allows the upper stop to contact the control arm from above, adjacent to the accommodating hole for the ball joint.

  • Patent number: 5755647
Abstract: An exercise appliance for conditioning the abdominal muscles of an individual includes a structure presenting a resiliently yieldable contact surface which provides a restoring force against a force applied thereto. The contact surface has a contour suitably sized and shaped to be at least partially fittable in the space formed between a support surface and a static lordotic curve of a lumbar back of an individual positioned with a remaining portion of the back of the individual in contact with the support surface. The structure may provide the resilient yieldability in a form permitting deformation of the contact surface, or may alternately include a rigid member arranged to permit resistive movement thereof in a direction towards a plane of the support surface.

  • Patent number: 5598620
Abstract: A tool for adjusting camber includes a body terminating at a forward end in a downwardly turned portion, and an advancing arm, slidingly mounted to the body, and forwardly extendable therefrom. The advancing arm may be advanced or retracted with respect to the body, for example, by rotation of a lead screw. A crank is disposed at an opposite end of the body from the downwardly turned end for rotating the lead screw. The leading edge of the advancing arm is designed to provide a stop against a part of the vehicle fixed with respect to the wheel, conveniently the strut. In operation, a level is attached to the center of the wheel to be adjusted, to indicate a desired setting. The downwardly turned portion of the body is hooked over the top of the wheel and the advancing arm is advanced until it is in engaged contact with the strut. Camber bolts holding the wheel in position are then loosened.
