Abstract: A slab gate valve assembly having a housing (12) with an inlet (22), an outlet (24), and a gated fluid passage between the inlet (22) and the outlet (24), at least one valve seat (42, 44) disposed in the housing (12), a gate-carrying shaft (30), and a slab gate plate arrangement (32, 34) in slidable engagement with the at least one valve seat (42, 44) and to be operated via the gate-carrying shaft (30) between an open condition and a shut condition, wherein one or more plates (32, 34) of the gate plate arrangement (32, 34) are mounted at one plate end (33d) to the gate-carrying shaft (30), in a manner permitting gate plate articulation relative to the gate-carrying shaft (30), and comprise a free end (33c) not mounted to the gate-carrying shaft (30). By permitting plate articulation in a controlled manner, the assembly avoids a need for a cage, resulting in a reduced number of components and reduced space requirement.

Abstract: A valve actuator is described that comprises a piston movable within a cylinder, an indicator pin support member movable with the piston, and an indicator pin attached to the support member and extending through an opening provided in a housing, wherein the indicator pin includes an attachment region held captive to the support member, the attachment region extending through an arcuate slot formed in the support member. Also described is a valve incorporating such an actuator.

Abstract: A rotary valve is described that includes a rotary valve member including a flow control region, and a valve seat surface with which the flow control region of the valve member is in engagement, a flow port opening into the valve seat surface. The flow port is positioned such that, in a first angular position of the valve member, the flow control region fully closes the flow port and in a second angular position the flow port is just fully unobscured by the flow control region. The first and second angular positions are spaced apart from one another by an angle in excess of 180°.

Abstract: A check valve including a valve member movable with a passage in a housing is disclosed. A biasing means applies a biasing load to the valve member to urge the valve member into engagement with a seating surface within the passage to control fluid flow. An environmental seal member is secured to the valve member by a retainer member. The retainer member includes a lip elastically deflectable by the environmental seal member upon compression and/or deflection of the environmental seal member. When the valve member engages the seating surface, the environmental seal member engages the seating surface to compress and/or deflect the environmental seal member, deflects the lip of the retainer member into engagement with the seating surface. Extrusion of the environmental seal member between the retainer member and the seating surface can be reduced and the engagement between the lip and the seating surface may be a sealing engagement.

Abstract: An actuator comprises an axially moveable piston coupled to a drive member such that axial movement of the piston 16 drives the drive member for angular movement, the drive member being coupled via a clutch to an output member, the output member further being coupled by way of a cam arrangement with an override actuator, the cam arrangement being operable such that initial angular movement of the override actuator relative to the output member can drive the output member for axial movement, disengaging the clutch, further movement of the override actuator driving the output member for angular movement.
