  • Patent number: 5196589
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel methods of stabilizing polymers of acrylonitrile. The polymers are stabilized by the inclusion of small amounts of stable free radicals compounds which act to inhibit the homopolymerization of the acrylonitrile while promoting the reaction of the acrylonitrile with nucleophilic species such as amines and alcohols.

  • Patent number: 5171875
Abstract: The present invention deals with the composition, and application of novel highly branched borate esters, which function as unique oil phases for use in personal care, textile and related applications. The properties of these novel compounds which makes them well suited for these applications is the fact that they are substantive to fibers, hair and skin, are very mild to the skin and eyes. These materials are surprisingly stable to hydrolysis.

  • Patent number: 5068324
Abstract: The present invention deals with novel amphoteric polymers and their application as softening, anti-tangle, and conditioning agents. The properties of these novel compositions which make them well suited for these applications is their substantivity to fibers, hair and skin and that they are very mild to the skin and eyes. The subject compositions are prepared by the polymerization of amphoteric monomers compounds with epichlorohydrin. The amphoteric monomer compounds are prepared by the reaction of commercially available multifunctional amines with an alpha beta unsaturated acid.

  • Patent number: 5034143
Abstract: The present invention deals with the certain novel lactam based lubricating components which are guerbet alcohol derived ether containing lactam compounds. These materials are useful as lubricating oils where outstanding liquidity, resistance to oxidation, and minimal variation in viscosity as a function of temperature is required. This combination of properties make these compounds excellent candidates as additives to synthetic lubricating oil and extreme pressure additives.

  • Patent number: 5028719
Abstract: The present invention deals with the composition, application and process for preparation of novel ether containing lactam compounds, useful as surface active agent. Compounds of this invention have emulsification, wetting, softening, anti-tangle, conditioning, ability to complex and solubilization properties. In some of the compounds of the present invention there is ethylene and propylene oxide in the molecule backbone resulting in an inverse cloud point. This property allows the formulator to get minimum solubility and maximum substantivity at higher use temperatures, and more solubility and lesser substantivity at lower temperature.
