Abstract: A control for reducing energy consumption by an intermittently loaded, electric motor-driven appliance automatically “learns” the idling current of an appliance, establishes a threshold current greater than the idling current, and switches off the appliance at the end of a time interval following a sequence of operation in which the appliance is operated under load and then operated at idle.
