Abstract: Cassette storage devices are provided for storing a plurality of cassettes in respective cassette cases which have a base and a door movably connected to the base, the base having upstanding side portions and the door extending between the upstanding side portions of the base. The storage device comprises at least one receptacle for receiving a respective cassette case, and engagement means at peripheral portions of the receptacles for frictionally engaging the base portion of a respective received cassette case without substantially blocking the openable door so as not to interfere with opening of the cassette case door. In the devices of the invention, the doors of the cassette case can be opened relative to the base portion while the respective cassette case is, and remains, engaged in the respective receptacle of the storage device. Preferably, the storage device has a plurality of receptacles adjacent each other and/or in back-to-back relationship.
