Abstract: The invention provides a set of mechanisms by which a wireless mobile mesh node equipped with a directional antenna may self form and self adapt its steady-state communications schedule. A link establishment handshake is carried out over an ongoing subtemplate-based discovery scan. During time not reserved for steady-state communications with previously discovered neighbors, nodes continue to search for an establish links with new neighbors. Initial and subsequent bandwidth allocation protocols may be utilized to allow peer nodes to coordinate communication opportunities between the peer nodes without impacting or having knowledge about reservations for communications with other peers. The link establishment and initial bandwidth allocation protocols may be piggy-backed for readily establishing an initial steady-state schedule with a peer upon link establishment without impact on previous steady state reservations by other nodes or on ongoing link establishment attempts elsewhere.

Abstract: The Adaptable Pulse Position Modulation (APPM) optical communication system and process facilitate wireless communications through turbid mediums including, but not limited to, smoke, airborne dust, mist, fog, clouds, water, seawater and water-to-air (air-to-water) interfaces by controlling the signal gain at the optical detector and controlling of the signal encoding to allow high data rate operation when the signal to noise ratio is high. The system also supports signal encoding redundancy to maintain good connectivity at the cost of the communication channel data rate as the signal to noise degrades.

Abstract: Two complementary approaches to the science of IMS technology, IMS and differential IMS (DIMS), are combined into a single instrument to provide improvements in interference rejection without sacrificing detection sensitivity. The technology is applicable to, inter alia, the analysis of trace quantities of toxic or otherwise dangerous organic chemical materials. The approach improves both sensitivity and specificity (interference rejection) of field detection instrumentation.

Abstract: A system for waste processing includes a feeder for receiving a waste stream of carbonaceous materials, multiple independently controllable augers, a reactor and an incinerator. The reactor receives a waste stream from the feeder and using a controllable heating element assembly converts the carbonaceous materials in the waste stream to syngas. The incinerator uses the syngas from the reactor to incinerate separately received black water waste from a storage tank.

Abstract: A process for selecting an optimal individual user solution including an optimal rate allocation and associated price for a predetermined bandwidth of cellular network resources includes application of an iterative process and selection from multiple proposed user solutions. The inputs to the iterative process include at least an initial user bid, an initial network rate allocation, a generated user utility function and the cost data. The user utility function includes multiple application user functions. Optimal solution selection includes comparing each multiple proposed user rate allocation with the initial network rate allocation for the user and selecting the closest multiple proposed user rate allocation to the initial network rate allocation. The process may be applied to aggregated cellular carrier scenarios.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates, according to some embodiments, reactive self-indicating adsorbent materials, methods, and systems. A system may comprise, for example, a reactive self-indicating adsorbent material, wherein the reactive self-indicating adsorbent material comprises at least one super paramagnetic particle and a semi permeable support, wherein the at least one super paramagnetic particle is configured such that at least one magnetic property of the at least one super paramagnetic particle changes upon contact with an adsorbate; and/or at least one detector configured and arranged to detect the at least one magnetic property.
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for a self-referencing interferometer. The interferometer can comprise an improved spatial phase shifter that reduces the number of components, size and complexity of the spatial phase shifter and maintains a common path for a combined reference beam and signal beam. The self-referencing interferometer further comprises a single mode fiber shunt for filtering the reference beam and further reducing the size of the interferometer. The angle of the reference beam can be tilted before being recombined with the single beam which further simplifies the spatial phase shifting component of the interferometer.
Abstract: A system and associated method for isolating intended radiation signals for determining target characteristics includes multiple detectors for detecting radiation signals having varying energies, delay modules for delaying the detected radiation signals and a discriminator associated with the multiple detectors for determining if detected radiation signals include unintended radiation signals, e.g., x-rays, and provided blanking signals to a switch in order to effectively remove the unintended radiation signals from the data that is presented to the processor for determining target characteristics.
Abstract: This disclosure provides antibodies that are useful for preventing and/or treating malaria. The epitope to which the antibodies bind is in close proximity to the conserved proteolytic cleavage site of P. falciparum circumsporozoite protein (CSP), and the antibodies provided in this disclosure can prevent cleavage and inhibit P. falciparum sporozoites from invading the liver.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method are disclosed for performing engineering review of energy consumption by one or more equipment. One or more computers are connected to a specifications database. The computers are configured to receive end-user configurations corresponding to first equipment; retrieve one or more second equipment, as well as second equipment specifications from the specifications database; calculate an invoicing statement for the second equipment; and provide an engineering review report of the energy savings realized by implementing the second equipment. The first equipment may be an existing equipment, while the second equipment is one or more energy-efficient replacement alternatives to the first equipment. Each step is performed in real-time, using automated software modules and sub-modules.
