Abstract: A movement assistance device for a spa cover having at least two spa cover portions each spa cover portion having opposing lateral peripheral edges, hinge and end peripheral edges and wherein the spa cover portions are movable one relative to the other from a first coplanar orientation to a second, stacked orientation, and a biasing pneumatic cylinder which cooperates with and extends between a first bracket secured to one lateral peripheral edge of one spa cover portion and a hinge bracket secured to the same lateral peripheral edge of the same spa cover portion adjacent the hinge peripheral edge and the hinge bracket is further secured to an aligned lateral peripheral edge of a second spa cover portion and adjacent to the hinge peripheral edge thereof, and wherein the pneumatic cylinder assists and controls the movement one spa cover portion relative to the other spa cover portion.

Abstract: A movement assistance device for a spa cover is described and which includes a moveable spa cover portion, and a pair of pneumatic cylinders which cooperate with a housing mounted on one of the spa cover portions, and which further assists in the movement of one of the spa cover portions relative to the other spa cover portion, and a third pneumatic cylinder is provided and which allows movement of each of the respective spa cover portions to a non-occluding position relative to the spa so as to allow use of the spa.

Abstract: A spa cover is described and which includes first and second rigid portions joined together by a continuous hinge and which each define a multiplicity of spaced, uniformly elongated internal channels extending between opposite peripheral edges thereof; individual lightweight unitary insulative inserts are dimensioned for telescoping receipt within each of the internal channels which are defined by the respective first and second portions, a pair of brackets are mounted on the spa, and which define, at least in part, a course of travel for the spa cover so as to expose the spa for use; and a generally U-shaped carrier is rotatively affixed to the pair of brackets and which cooperates with the second portion of the spa cover.

The different shaped sides can be used to better fit the outer shape of the associated spa. The individual step or steps are removable and have connection features which detachably connect with connection features upon one or more pieces forming a base. The base may be provided in the form of a pair of upright supports upon which one or more steps are supported. The assembly may advantageously be provided with one or more storage drawers or other bins which are preferably slidable for easy access.

Abstract: A spa cover lift and cover construction that easily accommodates use with odd sizes and shapes of spas. The construction uses a column which is positioned at a single location about the periphery of the spa. A foot piece can be included at the bottom of the column which slips under the spa to use the weight of the spa and water to help hold the cover lift and cover securely. The column is preferably adjustable in height. It has pivot arms which extend in recesses formed in the underside of one half of the cover. The pivot arms extend from the column out to the side edges and are looped to form a handle and return that further supports the cover on the lift. The pivot arms may have tail ends that engage a bumper when the cover lift is retracted. Control arms may be pivotally connected between the column and pivot arms to resist erratic movements.

Abstract: A spa cover lift frame is described for a spa cover which is formed of two halves and joined along a central hinge and rests against the top of a spa having upright left and right spa side walls and an end wall leading downwardly from the spa top. The preferred lift frame includes left and right mounting brackets configured to be mounted to the respective left and right spa side walls adjacent the end wall. Each of the left and right mounting brackets are preferably comprised of an elongated bracket flange configured to be mounted flush against a side wall of the spa with the second end adjacent the spa end wall. Pivots are situated on the mounting brackets, as are pivot stops. A "U" shaped reinforced carrier, including opposed substantially parallel support arm members and a cross member extending between the support arm members, is mounted to the brackets for pivotal motion about a lift axis.
