  • Patent number: 8638930
Abstract: Disclosed is a random number verification method and apparatus capable of quickly detecting the fact that a random number generation device designed to generate substantially authentic random numbers has become unable to generate authentic random numbers due to a malfunction, wrongful manipulation or the like. When random numbers randomly generated as n kinds of values are verified, a random number verification method according to one aspect of the present invention comprises a random number acquisition step of selecting a number m of the values, a counting step of counting the number of ones occurring p times (0?p<m) in the n kinds of values, a comparison step of comparing the number obtained in the counting step with a predetermined first threshold, and a determination step of, when it is found the number is greater than the first threshold as the result of the comparison step, determining that the random numbers have a problem.

  • Patent number: 8234322
Abstract: The present invention relates to a random-number generating apparatus and method for generating physical random numbers in accordance with noises randomly generated by a noise generating element, and allows for generating true random numbers at a high speed and uniformizing the generation frequency of each random number value, even in a simplified circuit configuration. The random-number generating apparatus is operable to amplify a waveform based on thermal noises generated in a thermal-noise generating element, and generate a random pulse at the time when the amplified output signal exceeds a given threshold from the state of being less than the threshold. The random-number generating apparatus is also provided with a reference-pulse generator for generating a reference pulse having a constant period, and a timer for measuring a time interval between the reference pulse and the random pulse. The measured value in the timer is output as a random number value.

  • Patent number: 8037117
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for deriving random numbers at a higher speed than ever before while maintaining desired randomness without spoiling uniformity of the occurrence frequency of each random number. One pulse included in one of two or more mutually-independent random pulse sequences and one pulse included in one of the remaining random pulse sequences are used, respectively, as a start pulse and a stop pulse. Then a time interval between the start pulse and the stop pulse is measured, and the measured value is output. The pulses temporally occur in a random manner, and therefore the obtained sequence of numerical values becomes random numbers. Specifically, in FIG. 1, time intervals t1 to t4 are measured, and these measured values (in FIG. 1, four values) are derived as random numbers.

  • Patent number: 6652309
Abstract: The object of the present invention to provide a connector, or a male-female engagement type connector set to be more precise, wherein the contact section of the female connector is invisible from the outside through its insertion opening. According to the invention, the above object is achieved by providing a connector with a housing member (10) made of an insulating material and having an engagement space for receiving a matching connector (3) inserted through an insertion opening (11) formed at the front end. A contact member (1) is fitted to the housing member (10) and has a contact section (23a) arranged in the engagement space (12). The engagement space (12) is formed internally relative to the insertion opening (11) so as to spread toward the outer periphery of the housing section. The contact section (23a) is arranged in the engagement space (12) at a position shifted toward the outer periphery so as to be invisible from the front side of the insertion opening (11).
